just been talking to a customer of mine today, who's son has just announced that all he needs is for him and his girlfriend to have 2 more kids and they then won't have to work again, btw the son is 18 and the g/friend is 18 and they have 2 children already, is this right or has the world gone crazy.
if you don't know the answer to that one...i'm not going to tell yah!
Well actually given my current circumstances I wouldn't :lol2: but I do get what you mean though :thumbup:
There is no more incapacity benefit.
It changed to Employment Support Allowance in October 2008.
ALL esa claimants HAVE to present themselves for medical assessment by private medical companies (note: Not necessarily doctors) and past claimants of the old incapacity benefit will also be assessed in time.
Many (in fact the majority) of claimants of jobseekers allowance do not receive any other benefit (including housing benefit (the rents paid)) and council tax benefit.
The majority of claimants (now) do not receive free prescriptions or dental care (although if they are ill their benefit can be ended (they then can claim for esa)
Note that for a claimant of jsa or esa to be able to claim other benefits such as rent or council tax benefits their partner has to be also not working.
Jsa and esa benefit is
Rent paid is to a limit...excessive rent will not be paid.
In all cases the rent or council tax is paid to the payee, not the claimant.
All child benefit ceases when the child reaches maturity or ceases full time education (in which cases it ends at 21)
It is MUCH better(if you have 3 or more children) to be WORKING in a low paid job, part-time. Then you can receive child tax benefit, which can be as much as
Note also that the con party, if/when elected is going to end all the above benefit.
Discussed at a fringe meeting at the above political parties conference was a proposal that parents unable to support their children may be eligible to have them adopted (nobody actually said if that was to be voluntary though !)
jsa = jobseekers allowance
esa = employment support allowance
It may be interesting see if you can receive Working Tax Credit (up to £10.0/wk). Many can, but do not claim.
edited Sunday: Child Tax Credit should be max not Sorry.
No the world has not gone crazy but this country has.
A couple like these will get much more in benefits that they could earn by going out to work. So they are happy to live off those of us who are stupid enough to work and pay our taxes.
