Now seeing that this austerity lark is everywhere, does this mean as we are all in this together that I can go to Clegg's 7 million pound family chalet for a little break?

No wonder the poorest in society are so angry when they are being targeted by wealthy Tory elite Ministers, and then on the other foot naff off on a holiday that most can only ever dream about and then shout we are in this together shite.
Three days earlier, he sat stern-faced through the Coalition’s latest ‘we’re all in it together’ Budget. No we're not all in it together at all. Still am sure there will be plenty of Tory MP's who will be benefiting from the new higher rate tax cuts eh? No wonder they all kept silent when asked after the last budget and shifted uncomfortably on their chairs when they were all asked again and again, how many of them were going to be better off and by how much with the higher rate of tax dropping..
The poor have got shafted even more than usual and the likes of Clegg really don't give a flying fuck.

You really have no idea Star. Nick Clegg is a Liberal and not a Tory - just for starters...
Secondly and more importantly, do you realise that UKIP are disaffected Tories planning even greater tax cuts for the wealthy (another 10% I believe). You have got your socialist and right wing knickers all in a twist again. Make your mind up about what you are because you sure confuse the hell out of us. How on earth do you square your hatred of the rich and wealthy with your support of UKIP who are simply extreme Tories?
Perhaps what you really are is a Stalinist? A paranoid, extreme Socialist with isolationist ideals. A Starlininist lol.

TH I am more than aware that all politicians are scumbugs you are in it for themselves. I am aware that Clegg is a Liberal when it suits him to be of course. Take his parties stance on Uni fees. Remember what he and his party stood for on that? What happened, would you care to remind us all?
How many fecking times do I have to tell you the reason why I will vote UKIP along with a few million others FFS. They want us out of Europe and immigration to stop or be much more controlled. That is why I am voting UKIP. Surely after Labours disaster of running this country, and the Tory's making not a much better job of it, can UKIP really be that much worse?
Do you want me to spell it out for you with a 30 foot high banner as to why I am voting UKIP? All the parties policies are the same just painted in different colours. Look what Labour did after 13 years in power. Destroyed this country in a flash. Whole cities swamped with immigrants who have zero intention of integrating and all in Labours name of multiculturalism. The rivers of blood speech came true on more than one occasion in the past, and it is a powder keg waiting for a spark to ignite it. You have not got a clue about living in an inner city and certainly not one where English is about the third down the list as a language.
UKIP's members are the same as the Tory members, but the thing which is so big for me is Europe and immigration. The other parties will do fuck all about that, and if UKIP can do anything then they are worth my vote for sure. I cannot be any clearer than that.

It really is a scandal that people with no idea whatsoever are allowed to vote. For every person who might make a considered choice there are plenty without a clue.
Is it any wonder that clueless idiots are elected when all it takes is a bit of advertising and the lemmings queue up to vote for them ?

Coming from the great man himself. I suppose you fall in the opposite category? rotflmao:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

To be fair to Mt clegg everybody is entitled to a holiday. I have no grievience there. However the real tax change that has been kept quiet is
The top rate of income tax will drop from 50p in the pound to 45p for people with incomes of more than £150,000.
This at at a time of Austerity....this at a time persions are been frozen and so effectivly reduced....this at a time of taxes like the bedroom tax.....
Yea all done so a millionaire can be £100,000 better off a year.
Scandalous to me. In this together....don't make me laugh....more like lets take a money off the poorest so me can give it to the richest. This government is playing the Sherrif of Nottingham role , with oscar winning performances.....Lets just hope Robin Hood appears soon !!

Do you not see the idiotic irony of your post when UKIP are proposing a further tax cut of around 12% for the wealthy and what will actually be a tax increase for most who are currently low tax payers?
Let's also do some simple maths with you Star... Not something that any Politician would currently want to spell out but here it is anyway.
We mentioned in a previous thread that unemployment had remained fairly static at 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 for a number of years and you estimated that 5,000,000 migrants had arrived in that period. 5 million new people - static rate of unemployed. A reasonable inference would be that 5 million people have absorbed themselves into the workplace (migrant or native - it is irrelevant to the maths) and are now paying taxes and contributing to society.
As you know the problem at the moment is the country is spending more than it is earning and we need more tax revenue, not less. So the 5 million new arrivals - if they contributed just £1,000 each to the tax take every year - that is $5 billion a year collected. If you take a more realistic £5,000 to cover income tax, VAT, fuel duties etc - then suddenly this 5 million intake is contributed £25 billion to the UK treasury.
Where would we be today without that? Let me tell you...
More cuts, more austerity, more pain, more suffering. Painful as it is - the country needs a bigger working population OR more savage cuts.
UKIP should get an award really for cleverly masking their extreme Tory policies by maintaining a populist focus on immigration and Europe. It is completely illogical for a natural Socialist to find appeal in UKIP policies and it unfortunately says a great deal about the UKIP supporter who has swallowed the bait and now believes that all our problems will be solved if we deal with the immigration issue.
The truth is that immigration is a sideshow, but just like Germany in the 30's the nasty foreigner is easy to blame for our self made problems. And just like in Germany there are plenty of bigoted activists who will happily ignore the real policies and focus on the populist agenda.

Don't worry Dean - UKIP have a plan for that. Harmonised tax and NI contributions for all - irrespective of earnings level.
The proposed rate of 31% for everyone will be a single combined tax and NI figure. This represents a further cut of 17% for high earners in actual tax and a small increase for low rate tax payers.
Don't know about you, but I think that giving the very well off another 17% tax cut just so we can get rid of the immigrants - well, it seems like a great idea.

I'm not sure where you have been If you think this has been kept quiet. Milliband Jnr, Balls and every other Labour politician have been shouting about this at every opportunity. What they fail to add is that the 50% tax rate was only introduced 4 weeks before the general election Labour knew it would lose. Labour set this as a deliberate booby trap, knowing full well that a Tory government would rescind it and sure enough, Osborne fell into the trap, which I personally believe was a political blunder. If Labour had really thought a 50% top rate would have raised significantly more tax, why did they not do it 13 years earlier?
I'm also not sure where you get the figure of £100K from?

Max just so aware....taken from BBC news website on 5/4/13.
I say again....at a time when Austerity measures are being brought in : pensions frozen : Bedroom tax beeen introduced : People are losing their jobs left right and centre : Is it a good time to cut the tax of those earing over £150,000 ?
There again, those more cynical than me might say, only a few years to election time, and they will need some money for the election fund.....I am sure the money saved can be donated back into the Tory election fund !!!!

Dean, do the maths, 5% of £1 million is £50K and that's for people with an income of £1 million not people with assets of £1 million.

That paragraph is meaningless, because we don't KNOW what the Country would be like without MASS immegration which has occured. Note, I said MASS, no denying we need a small number of highly skilled people coming here, but it been the shear numbers over recent years which has had lots of established residents worried.
Maybe the UK would have gone towards greater automation in the factories, more R&D, less labour intensive processes. So perhaps the UK would have had a greater GDP tha way. Maybe you'll say it would not be possible, but the fact is as it wasn't tried its impossible to say.
The thing about UKIP is that all the established residents who have been saying for so long that MASS immegration is bad and being called racists for stating it, now have a chance, by voting for UKIP, to stick two fingers up at all the Politians who for so long ignored what the people were saying. Remember Gordon Brown calling that old woman from Rochdale a "bigot" for saying there were too many Eastern Europeans in her town?

Schhhhhhhhhhh don't let Too Hot see that comment as he thinks every immigrant in the UK is an absolute God send. We currently have well over 2 million unemployed with jobs available. Fill all the jobs tomorrow and there would still be around 1.4 million people unemployed with no jobs to go into. Where on Gods earth is the advantage of having a further Romanian and Bulgarian immigrants entering the UK? It is not sustainable at the current rate, and when I have asked many times how this country cannot cope at the moment with the number of people in it, what happens when this country reaches 70 0r 80 million people in less than 50 years time? Too Hot avoids answering that question as he sees this huge influx as nothing but a brilliant idea. I am sure that the estimated influx coming our way later this year, are all going to be highly skilled workers? Absolute bollocks. The majority will be unskilled poor families heading here for our social housing and our NHS and benefit payments.
Why would any person come here to the UK where wages for unskilled workers are as low as they are, where jobs are as scarce as a golden chicken egg, benefits being cut left right and centre, not enough housing to go around.
Yes I also remember Brown's comments over that woman from Rochdale and the utter contempt he held her in for even daring to say anything about immigration. That was a scandal from who was at that point I believe PM? TH and many others think the Tory's are Jesus Christ reserected and that UKIP are the devil in disguise. At least they have the guts to at least try and stop the floods of immigrants coming here, and even if their policies are shit and they aim to give the higher paid more money etc, the mere fact that are going to curb immigration gets my vote every time.

Mark my words. Following the next general election the result will be a Tory government, with labour as the Opposition and the LidDems/Others (including UKIP picking up the pieces).
I firmly believe that it will be a close run thing, perhaps close to a new coalition, but ultimately it will not be a hung parliament. The elections of May this year will be a wake up and in the next years to 18 months the Tories will bring in some form of vote winner. I don't know what it will be, but I'm sure there will be one.
I find it comical that so many left wing people feel now is the time to vote for this far right leader, especially given that the party has never held a parliamentary seat!

I think myself and many others Trev know they will never get a sniff of power. But what we hope for is that is stops any one party from having an overall majority. If UKIP can gain the votes to form some sort of coalition, that would be a dream for most UKIP supporters.
As a person I rather like Farage. As a person I rather detest Cameron, and as a person Clegg has proved that he is a fraud. Of course Clegg is a Liberal when it suits him to be, and when it does not he becomes a Tory. My Daughter and many thousands of others are now paying 9 thousand pounds a year to go to Uni, and my Daughter will leave Uni with a debt of around pounds just so she can fulfill her dream of becoming a Primary school teacher. Clegg and the Liberals had the Uni fees at the top of their agenda and then Clegg sucked Cameron's dick and voted with him on the increase of fees. A Liberal? Don't make me laugh. We desperately need good quality teachers in this country, and there must be thousands who dropped out from becoming one because of the increase in fees by 3 times what they were.
Clegg and the others should be ashamed, I wonder if Clegg gives anyone of those students like my Daughter a seconds thought now?

Max,
as reported on BBC news last night...there are 32,000 millionaires paying tax in this country at the last cencus. Now by your own maths....if one millionaire has a million he pays £50,000 less a year !! If has two million then its £100,00 less a year !! If has three its £150,000 less a year. Do the maths yourself do you think there are more with just 1 million...or more with over 1 million. So yes, I actually think the £100,000 less a year average is actually low estimate.
Whatever way you try and argue this, or dress it up, at a time of when Austerity measures are being put in place ; At a time when people who have worked all there life, find them selves redundant and being asked to live on a week ; At a time when those that simply have an extra bedroom are being penalised ; At a time when every university students are being told they have to now pay for their education,
Then a 5% cut in tax to the those with the most weath is simply unacceptable and in my own opinion SCANDALOUS.

In 2009 - 2010 there were 16000 people who had incomes of over £1 million
The 50% tax rate was introduced and this number fell to 6000.
The number declaring income above £1 million has now risen to 10,000.
Though the number of people with assets above 1 million sits at approx. 306,000, thankfully you don't get taxed on assets only on what you earn like interest or disposal of assets.
Now if the drop by 5% gets the number to increase from 10000 to 16000 that means we get 45% x 16000 x 1000000 = £7.2 billion instead of 50% x 10000 x 100000 = £5 billion, so an increase of £2.2 billion...surely a good thing?
Of course the other side of the coin to this is that those additional 6000 continue to avoid paying the disparaging high tax rates imposed in this draconian country and we don't get any extra at all.

all selected politicians in parliament of all parties dance to the same tune as they are all compromised by the same rythm. they are all on the gravy train of financial reward to do their masters bidding.
if one spoke out, as they are all aware, they would meet with an untimely accident. they are all puppets of the same regime. international finance and banking.
they have stolen your pensions, exported your jobs, imported cheap labour, taken your taxes to subsidise their gambling and are coming for your savings/deposits al la cyprus.
this period is the greatest controlled demolition of the global economy since the introduction of the promisary note and we will get what we deserve for being so stupid and spellbound.
they will fill your minds with diversions/propaganda and blame the "other" guy. it's the immigrants fault. it's the afghans fault. it's al quaeders fault. it's the benefits claimants fault. it's the iraqi's (weapons of mass destrution) fault. it's gaddaffi's fault, it's assads fault. it's the north koreans fault. it's the e.u.s fault. it's the germans fault. it's the non taxpaying greeks fault.

Of course the other side of the coin to this is that those additional 6000 continue to avoid paying the disparaging high tax rates imposed in this draconian country and we don't get any extra at all.

Dean,
It was a report in the Daily telegraph supported by HMRC financial figures for year ending April 2011 to April 2012.
BBC being known for its leftist leanings and telegraph for its right, you picks your source and you takes your choice lol

As headline grabbers go, it is a good one. Like most headlines though, the underlying truth is a little different.
The tax rate for those who earn £150,000 a year will drop on the 40k and above segment from 50 pence to 45 pence. For millionaires to get a £100,000 a year tax cut means that they will have to earn in excess of £2,000,000 a year.
Fortunately Dean, the Government is not motivated by short term envy like some people. More jobs in this country will come from private individuals who are prepared to invest to create private sector jobs. High basic taxes do not attract innovators, doers and achievers - on the contrary higher basic taxes encourage the flight, not collection of taxes. The Government has reduced Corporation tax and my guess is that they will reduce basic taxes further to encourage private individuals to set up and create new business. This concept is backed up by statistics generated by the Institute of fiscal studies over decades of governments fiddling with personal tax rates and observing the consequences. Don't forget that the the tax threshold has gone up to 9440 pounds and will be 10,000 next year which gives everyone a tax saving.
As an aside and in some way contradicting the measure, it appears that the richer in society are paying more tax now than at any time under the 13 years of the last Labour Government.
There have always been wealthy people and there always will be. Some are born into wealth, some achieve it and some are lucky enough to win it but requiring them to pay a bigger and bigger part of the welfare budget will only drive them away, just as is happening in France.

That is very true TH and we need to make it beneficial for the tax payer and for corporations. High earners need to be enticed to pay, companies need to be enticed to pay and to invest. Through investment comes jobs, through jobs comes revenue and lower benefits.
Tax benefit investment schemes should take precedence over any austerity measures, as the money is there at the moment. It just isn't being used.
