So, Baroness Scotland fell foul of her own law and was fined £5k.
The implication is clear. You need a passport and another document to back it up before you give "Boris" a fiver to clean your windows, or little Tommy can wash your car on bob a job week (do they still exist?)...
Otherwise it's cough up the dosh and grovel to your boss that it was "an administration error".
Not really trying to start a debate, just laughing that the Baroness was hoisted by her own petard..

As an employer I was under the impression it was ten grand and not five?
Funny how she expected to be let off but if I got caught I would not be able to have any excuses.
As the saying goes " ignorance of the law is no excuse ".

The person employed was illegal, but had produced documentation that stated she was entitled to work.
She failed to record the documentation.

... and further evidence of just how corrupt GB's government is.
GB told the Country he was to have a GOAT (Govt Of All Talents).
What he didn't say (in true fashion considering all that he didn't disclose in his budgets in all his years as Chancellor of the Exchequer) is that the GOAT would also include thieves and cheats - but we couldn't expect anything different from him, could we :shock:

Getting old folks in council accommodation to apply for a postal vote (well, they applied for them of course) and then filling in the slip themselves - voting for the Labour candidate of course.

But I am really suspicious about this claim that the individual did have the paperwork but the Baroness failed to keep a copy. Did this come out in court, I mean did the paerwork turn up or did the Baroness just claim that? Does anybody know?

To be precise: everybody in parliament was getting away with it.
I'd really like to go through the lists of tories who were involved in banking, but the party seems to have stopped it....they'll have to wait until they leave/are booted out of parliament, to insert nose into trough....again.
Not to worry. Politics has always been just a bit the wrong side of moral....and not too far from the dark side of legal.
By their standards it was all legal. That's the best of making laws and regulations to suit yourself.

The Westminster scandal was much worse. Throwing people out of homes and forcibly moving them away from the area in order to sell the homes to those likely to vote for the party controlling at the time.
Dame Shirley, a multimillionaire Tesco heiress, masterminded the gerrymandering operation during the 1980s. The affair, arguably the most scandalous case of political corruption in recent British history, saw Dame Shirley, now 76, convicted of selling council homes in marginal wards to prospective Tory voters.
She was also found to have forced 122 homeless families likely to vote Labour out of eight marginal seats, forcing them instead to live in tower blocks that the council knew to be contaminated with asbestos.
At the time, Labour was threatening to take control of Westminster, which was seen as one of Margaret Thatcher's flagship councils, following a near-victory in the 1986 elections. Following a district auditor's investigation in 1994, Dame Shirley was found guilty of wilful misconduct and gerrymandering, and ordered to pay surcharges of to Westminster Council. This later rose to £42m with interest and legal fees.

And she still didn't pay it all !
