So Campbell is up in arms because there are only 6% black models in the higher echelon of the industry
I do wonder how that % stands up in the target area of the model employers, I think but don't know for sure that the largest target area for these companies is Europe and the US and other areas that have a large population of white people, could it be that 6% of the target population of the companies is white ?
Would therefore it be wrong to show your target market how they might look in your products by using 6% of black models in a market where 6% of the shoppers are black ?
Could it be because white models look better in the clothes and if so is that any different to choosing slim models, tall models ?
Do blondes make clothes look better and what is the % of blonde models, or brunettes ?
I think myself that these companies have no care for racism they care for profits and if using a larger % of white models gets them more sales than that would be their only motivation and not one of racism.
I also think that if Versace brings out a range of clothes for the Chinese market they will use a greater % of Chinese models.
I think its just NC wanting more publicity
