i think that with the expose of the m.p.s with their noses in the trough, on the gravy train (as they always have been), the banking bankrupcy save our childrens future taxes and indeptedness to them and every aspect of society controlled by unelected unanswerable quango's and fighting war's very few of us agree with, we need to bring these charletans and theives to buck ! i think that instead of, as a bbc correspondent descibed it recently, "an unwritten constantly evolving constitution we have in this country" ! ? ? ? we need a written constitution and bill of rights that we can refere to and demand all other's adhere to ! what do you all think ?

Would that be so that parliament could spend it`s time discussing "amendments" to the constitution ?
I'll take the 5th amendment on that one bolt
Yeah writing things down is often a good idea.
But as my old buddy used to say "For every problem there is an obvious simple solution- and its usually wrong."
I wouldn't expect a written constitution or bill of rights to address the issues Gulson listed.
I think that a hung Parliament which is a possible forecast will result in better working practices which leads effectively to new polices and legislation which may be more transparent. I think a Bill of Rights can still be open to interpretation and will only create more beuracrats.
To be honest I am really more worried about the opportunities that this series of revelations is giving to parties such as BNP.
Corruption of expenses as I have elsewhere is NOT about government officers alone. I wish all quangos were hounded by the press under the Freedom of Information Act to show how much is spent on hospitality and travel. It would be so revealing.
I am also more worried that people may not vote at all in the future which for the first time since I was 18 is just how I feel..........

And there was me thinkin it was a Quasi Autonomous non governmental organisation !!!

Got me thinking there, as that also rang a bell - quick wickipedia (not necessarily definitive I know) indicates that it can be either smile

Had we a constitutional bill of rights like they have in the US, we would then be entitled to free speech, so don't hold your breath. We live in a nanny state where we are watched and spied upon more than any country in the world. We will never be as free as the Americans!

there are around 883 of them costing tax payers around £167 billion a year
So if all the quango's disappeared overnight our debt would reverse in 4 years....
hmm I'm all for giving that a try. Can't be any worse than the last 4 years.
Would we even notice? What have any of them produced other than hot air and 'fact finding' jollies?
(Actually that could be a serious question - have they done anything?)
