/mini rant on
I am sick to the teeth of the amount of coughs, colds and bouts of flu my family seem to
get these days, years ago when i was a mere wisp of a girl, you'd get a cold, snuffly nose for a few days and for the cold that was it, with flu you'd get a bit of a chest infection, maybe the sweats for a few days, bit of a fever and that was about it.
But now, jeepers it's never fecking ending, cold after cold, hacking cough, phlegm overload, headaches, a nose that can run more than Oscar Pistorius (dya like that? topical dontcha think?) constant never ending hacking cough all of which seem to last for eons...and just when you think it's all over, another one comes along.
Taint just me either, my family & friends scattered across the UK seem to have the same within their own family environments, cough colds and whatever else.
I could offer that 'eee they don't make colds/flu like they used to' but actually they seem to be much more intense, last longer and are much harder to shake. My pops says it's cos of our immigration policy and the amount of people we're letting in from all different lands, my bruv says it's cos of air-con on planes and my doctor says 'it's nothing to worry about'
Well I'm sick of em, I'm sick of people visiting me when they have a cold and I'm reet mugged off that for all the 'fresh air' I like in the house, all the fruit and veg we eat and all the exercising I and my little cherubs do,.....none of it seems to make any difference.
I dont know where/what the origins of these neverending coughs/colds/flu/viruses are but I wish they'd do one.

I feel so much better for that.
It's probably down to the more sterile environment we all live in nowadays. Cleaning products are big business don't ya know, and weren't in the same league years back. We all ate dirt with our out of date meat and two veg, and played out in the muck and dog poo. Then there's the over-prescription of antibiotics which does next to nothing for us, but helps the bugs get tougher. rolleyes
Hope you all feel better soon. kiss
I still eat dirt, have a draughty car which lets in wind and rain, I mess with animals (not in the biblical sense) probably eat poo (dont clean the eggs properly) I eat lots of veg (usually straight out of the ground) same with fruit, go to the gym a couple of times a week and don't eat fast food or drink.
I don't get colds / flu
But..I think its got feck all with the above...I wash my hands very very regularly when meeting people...I'm led to believe its a people problem, nasty, nasty bugs! lol
Rather than protect my children from everything in the world, I have allowed them to suffer any number of coughs and colds. The net result is that my daughter at 13 turns off her bedroom radiator, my son of 11 does the same and they both like the window open at night. They rarely get colds or coughs these days and they are perfectly healthy for it.

I'm with you on the antibiotics, thankfully our GP doesn't dish them out as answers to all and he point blank refuses to dispense them to the children (but we no longer bother going to see him for these kinds of things anyway) I'm just fed up with it, I want my family well!

I avoid where I can shaking hands at any point and I dont mind a bit of dirt/nature, stuff all the PC stuff, didn't hurt me when I was younger.

We sleep with windows open, can't stand a hot house and we're outdoor merchants here, a nature walk and woods run the boundary of our house, we swim, camp (well sorta) and my youngest isn't yet at pre-school but feck me we get these colds n flu, proper doing me head in it is.
