So to paraphrase because some people associate 9/11 with all moslems we must treat moslems differently.
I can see that some people would think and act that way. I choose not to.
Surely divisive actions are more likely to spread division.

Of coarse you are right Ben, but when everyone who lives in New York, must know someone who died there it must be very difficult for them to be quite so clear headed as you
Yes Blue I can appreciate the strong feelings of the bereaved.
But to establish a moslem exclusion zone around the site achieves nothing but to reinforce the misguided notion that all moslems are terrorists and vice versa.
Which is why I made the point about catholics and children way back.
I am much more upset about institutionalised child abuse yet I would not suggest that all catholics are paedophiles or that it is "bad taste" to have an awful lot of UK schools run by that church.
What do you think?

I can not disagree Ben, we of coarse can not demonise everyone for that actions of a few.
But as I said earlier, it does have the feeling that some one may be pinning a flag on a perceived victory, and even if they are not, there are those that will say that is what has happened and perhaps boast about it.
I know my logical side should overcome this, but I am struggling with it

Yaknow I never noticed that you had removed the proclamation from your signature. I assumed that it still held. I will take note for future reference Mr/Mrs Swingers.

i have just read a really interesting thread on an American site where the nature of news reporting was discussed.
A recurring point was the fact that sections of the media had invented the mosque at ground zero myth, and now the story had a life of its own.
i think if anything we should all be aware that single sources are always suspect, and that emotions are easy to manipulate.

Have they dunno

Yes ,as i pointed out earlier a cultural center 2 blocks away from ground zero is not the same as a mosque at ground zero.

Ty blue, but why let facts get in the way lol
The cultural centre will include a Mosque ( as per Blue's links and other articles I have read) and will be about 2 mins walk from Ground Zero. Where are the facts getting in the way?
I fully endorse Vampanya's earlier comments.
and as kas said earlier in her spectacular flat footed manner
the poll cited on sky was by an independent and nothing to do with fox news
but there was a quote by CNN
that stated although two thirds of Americans thought it was in poor taste 61% also stated that it was the right as per the American constitution
jumping to conclusion causes flat feet you know wink

Polling questions?Selection of respondants?Time of day?Internet phone or Street poll?
You dont marry a psephology nut and not learn a bit.
Oh and remind me,who owns fox and sky news?
Max,2 minutes really,i was chatting to a friend today in NY,she obviously walks a lot slower than you.
She wouldn't be the non driving rally driver by any chance?
or as someone stated earlier, why let the facts get in the way??

Ah he will have heard of R. McCallum I presume?
A fascinating man by all accounts.
Psephologists compile a broad assortment of data in order to understand more about the electoral process, the government, and how people make decisions at the polls. Employment in this field is quite varied. Some psephologists, for example, work for political campaigns, advising the candidates and providing suggestions, while others work for media outlets, polling organizations, and universities.
For those who did not know what one was.
The bit highlighted may well be of interest to another member who thinks that people need to understand who and why they vote..before being able to vote.
Maybe you can give him a few pointers, seeing as your hubby is an expert in the field.
The problem with Psephologists though is that people change their opinions almost on a daily basis, so a lot of the information collected is a bit like the media....inaccurate.
Still another topic for another day.

Not expert, hey ,who cares about accuracy on this forum

Ah sorry the way you wrote it I presumed he was an expert, not just a fan.
Must admit though you seem to know a lot of experts, sorry fans.
Maybe it was the way you wrote it, or a slim chance I read it wrong.
There is a lot of accuracy on this forum I believe and a load of bollox. It is determing what is what.
I am very good at determining the bollox though.

Thats how marriage works you see,you talk, share interests, learn from each other.

Thanks for the lesson, I will bare that in mind as being married before for over 24 years I obviously learnt nothing.
Of course you can talk and learn from each other but what if the person doing the talking, is talking bollox? How would the listener know it was bollox?
So in reality there would be two people talking bollox about the same thing..........it happens ya know.
For the benefit of those who like to spin things and seem to think that understanding why there is a problem means actually agreeing with the problem let me just clear this up.
I understand why some people have a huge problem with a mosque near ground zero. I dont agree with them.
Better? :uhoh:
