we deserve this sort of scum because we dont stand up to let the do good-ers and doctors says 'its not their fault, they have nothing to do' and we just except it!
No! i dont! We need people to form groups, go out mob handed and beat the crap out of these people!
A good ole punishment when they recover?
do it again! make these scum understand enough is enough!
Your lucky im not in charge! because the scum which beat up that old man id bulldoze their house.
Put up posters around town of his face after a bloody good kicking so everyone is whatout doubt what to expect if you behave like this!
Come on people! join me won't you?
The courts are not working and we need a new direction.
Vote for me and i'll have armed troops on the streets to round up all the known scum and they will disappear over night!
time for change! lol lol lol

Didn't someone else try that a while ago......
Would the de rigeur uniform be brown shirts or combats and a black balaclava.
You might think your ideas would work, trust me they wouldn't...still the trains might run on time eh?
If the justice system has stopped being a deterrent then overhaul the system....we don't need the stormtroopers, because the only thing that leads to is anarchy, in which case ooops, no ones safe.
If you want a system where the biggest, strongest gang make decisions for everyone else to live by, then fine, before you do however, you might want to look at what went on in some parts of Belfast when the paramilitarys were prone to punishment beatings.
Yes it's wrong when things like this happen, I feel nothing but pity for the victim and infact any victim of crime.....another side effect of your idea which you may not have considered....any burden of proof before the knuckle draggers turn up, or will word of mouth be enough?
Think about it.
when questioned i will always say 'god told me to do it' lol
done and done lol

What about their human rights though?

Are you winding us up or is this tongue in cheek humour?
All I will say is 'what about the rights of the elderly gentleman, asleep in his bed, being woken up, beaten up, all for a little bit cash' he was defenceless in his bed and lay there until his carers came the next day, meanwhile his house was ransacked.
with you on this one jaymar. IMO the moment anyone lays a hand on another person with the intent on doing them harm they waive all rights to be treated with any compassion.
I used to be in favour of capitol punishment but now I'm not so sure. The prison system stinks, it's far too easy a life and it presents no punishment other than being kept away from their families for a time ( which is no punishment at all in some cases )
I'd be in favour of scrapping parole altogether - you get a sentence of 10 years, you DO 10 years. Hard labour, boot camp style prisons and none of the 'luxuries' of British prisons should be the order of the day.
Just my opinion. Too harsh? Ask the 85 year old lady who used to live nearby if that sounds too harsh. As she was left the Post Office with her pension in broad daylight she was knocked to the ground and kicked so hard in the face her jaw was dislodged. Oh you can't ask her, she died 3 days later in hospital. mad
First of all I would like to apologise for posting. I said I wouldn’t but I have been lured back.
24 hours ago I asked a question on this thread to people who had posted. I am interested to see that no-one has responded.
So far it has been suggested that suitable punishment for violent crimes are
Beatings by the Royal Marines
Flogging
Cutting their hands off.
I would assume that those who have supported these ideas strongly believe that these punishments would work. That the moral decline of our society would be halted if only we stood up to the thugs and bullies. That it would be safe to walk the streets, that youths wouldn’t be stabbed, that pensioners would be safe in their own homes. That society would be a better place for everyone.
So the question I asked was what were they going to do about it?
Answers
Nothing. Not one reply. People who believe they have the key to make society better and they really can’t be bothered to do anything. Well not entirely true. They have posted their thoughts on an internet site dedicated to swinging and in fairness they have probably moaned to their partners and their colleagues at work and the fat bloke down the pub.
If anyone posts on this I am expecting them to say something about ‘it won’t make a difference’ or ‘no-one will listen to me’. This may or may not be true but they believe they have the key to improving society. Surely that has got to be worth a bit of an effort.
I am just tired of people expecting someone elseto do something about problems and not taking any responsibility for themselves

Keeno taking responsibility comes in all shapes and sizes. If the problems we face were isolated it would be much easier to deal with but....we know these kind of incidents happen on a nearly hourly basis now.
If the police cannot do much how do you expect members of the public to act? There is not one single issue which can rectify this, it is many things that are needed. We have a story today about a Mother who gave her 13 year old and her friends Vodka to go on a charity walk. The result? A police caution. She did not even go to court...we all know what that tells people. Thats just a tiny example of society and its faults.
Right so as a member of the public what can we do as individuals? Well of course you could write to your MP, be lucky if you get a reply. You contact the police and you would be lucky if they bothered to turn up and even if they did, their powers seem to be dwindling. You see kids doing something wrong, what do you do? Approach them? Whats the point. You would either be abused verbally or worse. You could go to the parents and tell them, but would they act, or just tell you to fu-koff.
As single members of society we cannot do much at all, the only powers we have is at the ballot box. I am at a loss as it has gone so far down the road it will take another 20 years to put things right.
Parents collectivly need to take some control, the police need more powers to act, the teachers need to be given back their authority, and the courts need to have their hands taken from behind their backs when sentencing criminals. If sections of communities like the police and the courts seem to have lost a lot of their power, how the heck do you expect members of the public to have any?
Of course I can contact the local council, and the police and the parents, but lets be honest here, after I have done all that, I would be at the same point as when I started, with nothing whatsoever gained. That is not a cop out, that is a fact.
Of course you can pick the bones from my reply, if honest I expect it but....if there is anything there I have said which is not true, then I would be glad to hear it. Society has gone soft, the kids know it and the criminals know it. The reason the MP'S wont act is that the problem is now so huge, and with an election looming, they do not want to rock the boat.
We need tough measures like they have now in New York, remember their crime rates? What was it.....6 murders a day at its peak? Check their crime rates now, they have fallen by over 70% from its worst. The reason? Much tougher sentences and the criminals know there will be no leniency if caught. It worked over there, and it will work over here, and whatever happens across the pond, always nearly happens over here. There has to be a fear factor about being caught, which there is not at the moment, and there lies a fundamental problem. No fear and no respect, and you think a single member of the public can change that attitude?
So Kent what you are saying basically is
You've done nothing and you don't intend to do anything but whinge and whine

So what exactly do YOU suggest an individual can do keeno? Laws are set at Parliament over which, despite what they would have us believe, as Joe Public we have no control over . Punishment and sentences are not even set by the courts, this is the job of the Sentencing Guidelines Council ( aka more civil servants )
Yes, we could vote in a new Govt but would it change things? I doubt it. We could lobby our MP, can't see that working either.
The only option left for us peasants would be to set up a lynch mob and take things into our own hands. Tempting at times yes, but hardly a practical or morally ethical answer

yep sorry missed that one!
I am sure there are others to.
Until these things are tackled heavily I feel there is no moving forward.

Sorry Keeno but do you want me to find threads where you have " whinged and whined " ?
I did not expect anything different but I tell you what I would rather whinge and whine, than like so many others out there, who dont even do that.
I have come to the aid of my Father who thirteen years ago was being verbally abused by 3 ferel thugs with a large lump of wood at our golf club at the time. I pulled my Father away as one of the thugs was waving a lump of wood around. I asked the thug to go as it was private property, he then proceeded to threaten me with this lump of wood.
Well big mistake as I thumped him so hard, he did not get up for over 5 minutes. What happened then? I tell you what happened. The following week both myself and my Father were arrested and charged. My Father did not even touch him at all.
So this ferel thug, this animal, had the cheek to say it was our fault. It eneded up going to crown court where the jury aquited us both, after a three day trial. That was thirteen years ago, they have more rights now. The thug was 6ft but was just under 16, so the full force of the law was on his side.
I have done things m8, I have called the police before, I have spoken to the parents, I have approached kids, and you know what? It did no good whatsoever. So dont you dare say all I have done is whinge and whine, because I have done more than most.
Kent I am glad that you have made a stand. I am sad that you have had to.
I believe one man can make a difference. Certainly one man can make a difference if every one man makes a stand. Crowds of individuals working together to make things better.
One doctor can save a life.
One policeman can solve a crime.
One nurse can bring care and comfort to the sick.
One smile can bring happiness.
Of course it is hard to change things but it can be done. But it can only be done if someone makes the effort. Talking is good but as the saying goes "fine words butter no parsnips".
One man can make a difference
Ghandi through his sacrifices managed to bring home rule to India.
Lets face it it is an easy soft option to stand on the sidelines of life and shout "wanker" at the people trying to make a difference but it is another thing to be on the pitch playing.
And that's all I've done in this thread. I've just rubbished your arguements without coming up with anything concrete myself. lol
See it is so easy to be a windbag who achieves nothing.

Points taken Keeno.
We have both given our opinions and both have substance. Your right I should not have had too. Your a good poster and I enjoy the banter with you Keeno. The forum needs people like you.
Have a nice day and no doubt chat soon. lol
Kent, you were the only person who was able or prepared to say what they have done. My gripes are not with you but with all the other 'barrack room' lawyers.
Keep on doing what you think is right the country needs people who will act rather than just talk. wink
