History has forgiven and been kind to other leaders, do you think it will do the same for Tony Blair

I don't think he has anything to be forgiven for. He along with America and most of Europe, allocated troops to remove with, most thought was a threat to the western world. He took decisions of what he thought was right. Thats what leaders do !! The fact that the aftermath has not been as easy as they had planned for....is what people are really complaining about. The biggest mistake and lesson to be learnt as he said himself, is that the after war planning, was inept !! Don't forget the people of this country that voted Tony Blair in three times !!!

I voted no, but it depends on a lot of different things.
Of course he has been let off the hook by all his lovies in parliament, in the media, and of course by the slimy rich celebrities who he courted along with his garbage wife Cherrie. Because of this it will appear that he head done no wrong when and when the present is recorded as history that is what will be written. Just like the way the Americans wrote their version of the Vietnamese war without even winning it, they will write their own version of the "war on terror" and brainwash future generations with stories, movies, biographies etc.
However, the Muslim world will never accept this, and unlike the Vietnamese there are over Two Billion Muslims, and they are growing. They will remember Bush & Blair, Brown & Obama as war criminals guilty of genocide against their people. The only problem I have with this is that the British people will also be seen as culpable even though most of us were and are against the wars, and as per usual soldiers following orders will be blamed even though they were only following orders.
The most disturbing thing I can think of is that they carpet bombed Iraqi cities, killing women children old age pensioners and babies, seeing as how Iraq has never attacker our countries there was and can be no justification for this. Then of course future generations of Iraqis will no doubt pay the price because of the spent uranium bombs and shells used on their country.
This is a powder keg and one day someone will put a spark to it. :0(

The point being made there is that you now have to apply to the Police in order to protest - so the "upholders of the law" have become the law makers - the beginnings of a Police State.
They demonstrated the futility of the legislation by individually applying for licences to demonstrate causing a massive paper chasing exercise for the Met.

There were parts that were brilliant, and some of it was nonsense.
In Liberal Britain 2010, you cannot possibly have things everyway you want.
We live in a dangerous world where people in this country plot to kill us on a daily basis.
Of course it is or should be a right to demonstrate, but excuse me....I think it was right to BAN the proposed march through Wooten Bassset, by a group of illegal nutcases.
There has to be a line drawn somewhere, but it is obvious from the film that the Police had their orders to stop any march that was anti war.
Tony Bliar has of course brought in laws that take away our liberties, and whilst I detest the guy, some of it was forced upon him, because of our liberal attitudes to people who preach hatred. Like one handed hookie ranting outside his mosque, and the police just standing by allowing it.
With the war on terror the old laws had to be changed and some were right, but others were wrong.
I believe any PM would have introduced new terrorists laws, if they were in power at the time of the London bombings.
But nevertheless...............and interesting insight into politically correct Britain , and yes the evidence is very strong there, that we now live in a Police state.

I am sorry Deano I have to disagree with you. He has a lot to be sorry for. He made commitments to the USA to take this country to war without any consultation with this countries parliament. He deliberately and wickedly misled, at best, and at worst lied to the country and parliament. He failed appallingly to forsee or plan for the consequences of his actions for a man of such so called intelligence he was either negligent or callous beyond words.

History can forgive such a lot.
As those that personally remember the second world-war holocaust become extinct, those born after the event are personally immune from the memory. Even education, in many places, does not mention those events. And in many countries on the globe that event itself is not remembered with horror, but with pleasure.
How many remember the streets full of people, in some areas of this world, dancing with glee at the destruction of the world trade centres ?
And how many will remember that event not with horror but with pleasure ?
Other countries in the middle-east voice voiced dissent at the invasion of Iraq, but were rubbing their hands with glee at the possibilities for the future.
Even Vlad the Impaler is remembered fondly by proctologists !
No, Mr Blair did the right thing, even if for the wrong reasons.
Now we have to wait to see what a certain middle east country does when Iran produces nuclear weapons, and after the event everyone will be wailing and moaning....and then get-on with business as usual...only the 'papers will REALLY care.

I voted no, but in fact history will be even more harsh in its judgement than we are now.
Why? Because we know he lied and can see the terrible result of that, but only the future will know how long the Allies will have had to stay in Iraq to bring it back to some semblance of order (if ever) and the full toll of human and financial damage that an Ego on legs can bring about.
