Having watched a program about parking I was left wondering whether people think the DVLC should have the right to sell people's details to anyone for bringing them a revenue of £4,000,000 pa. Is this not an alienation of our civil rights? Of course it is mainly the private parking companies who use (and abuse) this system. My personal view is that the only body which should have access to these records is the police to chase up car crime etc. After all how does the DVLC know whether or not these details are being used for identity fraud or not?
Not wanting to be controversial but just interested to find out how others feel?
im probally being dim, but who would want my details? what details would they be?
and why should someone make money out of my information? well wihout having to pay me a cut lol
xx fem xx
No furtling way should they pass on confidential information. I don't want the DVLC to have my details anyway, so for them to sell it on is rather annoying.
Ok then the DVLA. They sell to private parking companies who have your car registration when they think you have contravened one of their parking rules. They can get your name and address from the DVLA for and threaten you with bailiffs etc if you don't pay their inflated parking fines.
I'd rather they sold them than lost them. Which seems the only other option with this bunch of incompetents.
Trouble is, it's not an alternative - they're doing it anyway.
