This came up when I was having a recent dicussion about the 2012 Olympics. One person said it's too expensive, a waste of money and won't benefit Londoners in the long term. And suggested hosting the World Cup would a lot a beteer as we got plenty (which he named) of existing grounds that up to the standard to do so. Without incurring vast expense in upgrading or building new ones.
The site is to be found here
I feel they should.
1) It is our national sport
2) This country invented association football. It would be silly for that to be overlooked.
3) It's long overdue (I'm sick of this 1966 and all that)
4) We are the hostable country in Europe that has hadn't had it recently.
5) Give us the opportunity see the kingpin football tournament in our lifetime come home. Most of us weren't around or were kids at the time(I was 3).
Over to you!
I love footie but International football tbh leaves me cold.
I have followed my team ( Chelsea ) all over Europe in years gone by. I still see them at the Bridge.
I really am not bothered whether we host it or not. It is mainly suited big wigs, more interested in their own PR, than about hosting it for the good of the English game.
The FA are interested in one thing and one thing only...MONEY.
It is like the Olympics...not bothered other than to say at least the football grounds are already here, and would not cost a huge ammount to hold it here.
So as an avid footie fan even I am not bothered if it is held here or not.
As long as there isn't too much expense involved (yes we all know that there will be those who seek to make this an opportunity to fleece someone of cash) then I dont see why we cant try for it...
We do have a number of grounds that are suitable for hosting games already so it should mean no new bulding of grounds...
I want a separate option for Don't Know and Don't Care. They are very different.
And since you ask - who cares? It's just a little boy's game with way to much money in it and England are always out in the first round anyway.
i do suport the bid
i love football of all kinds from international games to my local city team and the lads playing in local leagues on parks
at least there are already stadiums built altho i imagine there will still be some cost to us ordinary folk
Yes I would support a bid. I might even get to see the extra time this time around........missed it last time as I had to deliver newspapers
As long as I don't have to participate in any way be it as spectator or funder (sic) I'm quite happy for it to be held here
