That is why for me the FA cup is the greatest tournament in club football anywhere in the world...It is certainly the oldest and is a shame that when it suits them, the FA have belittled this once great trophy.
It always used to be the finale of the footballing season, Wembley 3pm kick off, but like yesterday it has to suck up to sponsors and money hence the late kick off time and bad news for people who then had to get all the way back to Manchester or worse, Wigan. The FA have sold themselves down the river for money and then want the Premier League clubs to show fair play with what they spend. Pfffftttt.
But all being said yesterday IS what makes this grand old competition the best. Lowly poor old Wigan against the might and power and money of Man City, and against all the odds beat them and deservedly so.
Well done Wigan, and I bet the old fox that is Fergie was having a snigger to himself after seeing his city neighbours get humped in the final.

i must admit the FA cup star brings the very best out in teams, probably one of the best finals in recent years was Liverpool vs west ham it was and absolute pleasure to watch and showed how the day brings the very best out in teams.

The kick off time was irrelevant. We got back at half past midnight and it was just a great day. No issue at all that was an evening kick off, it just meant we could take a steady drive down there.

Sad news today in the aftermath of the cup final.

Have to say that I'm sad to see that Wigan have made history by becoming the first club to win the FA Cup and be relegated in the same season. Ecstasy turning into agony within 72 hours for their fans.

Yes it is sad, but new challenges await. As was said on Sky tonight - in the eight years that Wigan were in the PL, the mighty Arsenal won nothing. In the fullness of time, the name of Wigan Athletic etched on the FA Cup is indelible and will be there for ever.
Dave Whelan does not have age on his side anymore but he still has determination and who knows if he still has the will to make another challenge to get Wigan into the PL again.
As a Wiganer I have been proud the last eight years and Dave Whelan has been an inspiration to me all of my working life.
I'm a believer.

i must say a very well done to Chelsea
you can help but admire that despite they have two different managers every year, their team spirit is unrivaled in any other team i have seen in the premiership.
big well done to the boys last night and thanks for bringing home another European cup to the UK

Rob the ONLY English team to have won all three European cups.
They rode their luck at times last night, but form is temporary, but class is permanent. I have to say that over the last 11 years I as a life long Chelsea supporter, I cannot believe what we have won and the records we have set and broken.
Last year was the pinnacle for Chelsea and with Jose coming back next season, I would just like to say to the Chelsea team and Jose....worship:worship::worship:

Sorry TH but you know nothing about the loathing we have for this man. He did nothing special this year being honest. He was a tad lucky getting top four and we were very lucky last night, and last nights win had nothing to do with him, but everything to do with the players. I like many other real Chelsea supporters want him out, and the sooner the better.
You are of course entitled to your opinion TH, but you should be more concerned about next year with only having ten thousand supporters at your club to watch them. Blimey you get more for rugby. lol

Wigan is my sons Club, not mine. "Supporters" who have a go at their Manager are not supporters, they are morons. Supporters don't own Chelski - a very rich Russian owns the Club and by voicing your opinions about the decisions he has made to bring great success to the Club is pretty mindless... To say the least.

And man UStd are of course an english owned club flipa is it not owned by two yanks
pots and kettles, glass houses and all that.
star despite your feelings towards benitez he was asked to interim manage a side and asked to get champions league placing ,which he did i doubt he was asked for a European trophy!!
the team spirit proved this and last year that the manager could only pick and train the team
you should at least be thankful that he even took the job, id hate to think you could have got O'Neil but saying that he has done his own CV the world of good and will come out of this as the professional he has shown his self to be
im pretty sure the manchester faithful would take that for moyes first year in charge but think the trophy room at man utd will be a little bare for the next few years wink

Points well made Rob and I don't expect TH to understand for a second what you mean. If he thinks that I am not entitled to my opinion about a man I have always detested, and who now manages a club I have supported for over 45 years, and spent thousands following them all over the country and Europe, then I am not going to say who the real moron in all this is.

That is true Rob but it is HIM.....Sorry but he if thinks he will get a good reception at the Bridge on the last game of the season, he will be mistaken. I shall let you know what the general atmosphere is like Rob.

Yes Rafa got out of it what he dreamt of. Remember Rob he was sacked at his last post of manager, and then was out of work for months as nobody was interested in him. Perish the thought of useless O'Neil I agree but it could have been that other useless idiot Cappello.
Still Jose is coming back, Lamps has signed a new deal, and it will be brilliant next year first home game of the season. My season ticket is on it's way as we speak, being the REAL supporter that I am.

Yes. Manchester United are owned by Americans - not sure what point you are making? They have not yet made any poor decisions, they have taken down the level of debt, gave support to SAF in his transfer dealings and have taken on his recommendation for the new Manager. True Manchester United fans are not disputing the Moyes appointment - he will get the full support of the fans.
I simply stated that fans who criticise their Manager have to be moronic. Supporting your team on the pitch is all important and to criticise the Club owner for his managerial appointment is stupid. The Chelsea players were visibly supportive of Rafa, they have verbally backed him and thanked him across the news channels this morning. Just who is right and who is wrong? The owner and players of the Club or the morons who have been chanting for his head since his appointment?
Oh and Star ... You comment about Rafa being sacked... Rafa has never been sacked by Chelsea and you should not forget that Mr Abramovitch has a history of doing the unexpected. It would be a surprise to no one apart from the Chelsea "supporters" (sic) to see a surprise appointment and not what appears to be the assumed appointment.

your ridicule of Chelsea by calling them chelski is the point and incredibly funny as your a utd fan and it's owned by yanks
as for abromovich and his craving for success, you as someone who is living with a Russian should know the rich Russian mentality, failure is not an option and if you cant do it i will get someone who can.
its what made them so rich!!
abramovich wants to be a European dominance his desire to own the worlds most feared football club will continue till he finds his man and his team, that i am in no doubt
the plastic flag comments that rafa made could have easily been resolved by an apology, but none came
and as a football supporter you would know that supporters dont forgive easily, now how would the Manchester faithful have been if Kevin keegan had been appointed or Kenny dalgish, it might have even been Mancini.
history has a habit of repeating its self and this situation with Ferguson is very similar to the post busby era which you well know was anything but a success.
a great manager does not get the best out of a team they create brilliance and genius out of their players Ferguson was one of these moyes isn't
pound for pound the best in the world are Pep Guardiola and jose mourinho with jose having the advantage of being the best half time tactician that football has ever seen
and i think deep down there are few supporters in football that would not welcome a rich Russian to their club with pep or the special one as an addition

I shall ask you a question TH, but openly on here I am sure it would be different in your private thoughts, but I shall ask anyway.
How would you have felt if Rafa would have been named next Utd manager? I am sure you will say you would have been fine with it, but I bet the other % of Utd supporters would have vented their anger and hatred towards him. You obviously do not understand the deep feelings a lot of people have for their clubs. Rafa has made outrageous comments about Fergie and Man Utd and Chelsea, when he was manager of Liverpool.
People have long memories and he was not wanted at Chelsea and they let him know from the start. On the last game at Stamford Bridge I know there are going to be a few banners ready for him. For me it was the team that created the success this time, for Rafa it was just luck nothing more. I don't rate him, I don't like him, and I will be glad to see the back of him. I am sure though he would have made a great Man Utd manager. lol
Bring on Jose........I shall remind you when he is officially appointed TH, as you obviously have your doubts.

No TH pay attention now please. I never said Rafe was sacked by Chelsea, but he was sacked by Inter Milan who got rid of him midway through the 2010-2011 season. Then he stayed out of work as no club came forward for him such is the level of his success, but Chelsea came along with an " interim " post until they could find the right manager. So right from the start he was humiliated by Chelsea by announcing he was not be be the proper manager, just a stand in until something better came along. I wonder how many people would put up with that in the real job market.
I have no doubt that there is only one manager capable of managing Chelsea. Your comment about some kind of surprise appointment possibly, is a Man Utd supporter hoping and preying Jose does not return, as under Moyes who knows where Utd will go, but one thing is for sure they will not have the same levels of success under him as they did under Fergie.

Agree totally - that is why it is strange that by attacking his decisions, the "supporters" are in effect biting the hand that feeds. Rafa was introduced as a temporary Manager - any right thinking supporter "could" have thought - well OK, he owns the Club, we have had a lot of success from his decisions and it is only a temporary appointment. The morons reacted in a different way.
Rafa has never been sacked by Chelsea - but Mourinho has. Another decision by the owner that was challenged by the "supporters." The irony of the post was to tell us that Rafa had been sacked in his last job but forgetting that Jose Mourinho had in fact been sacked by Chelski.
I hope that Mourinho does come back to Chelski because it will be a sideshow again for a couple of years until he has another fall out with the owner or key players - of which this is a certainty.
As for Manchester United - they are entering a new era with a new manager and unlike the post Busby days - the planning and continuity is more like the Shankly/Paisley transition albeit the abdication of Shankly to his Assistant was a probably a success that could never be repeated in modern football. The principal of that transition is how Man Utd have planned for this handover.
Could it all go wrong? Too right, nothing is certain in life, but good preparation and planning normally leads to a positive outcome.

You can be sure that Rafa was paid a "staggering" sum and in return he engineered a return to form of Torres and organised his team far better defensively - achieved top 4 and won silverware. This is what good managers are paid to do and he achieved success for the team in spite of moronic supporters who pressurised him (and consequently the team) at every home game.
The real winner from all of this is Rafa Benitez. He will be happily trousering the millions paid to him by Abramovich, sticking two fingers up at the moronic Chelski "supporters" and going on to a highly paid job where he will continue to be successful.
Meanwhile you want a Manager back who has already had a divorce from the Owner and so the likelihood of future fall-out is a nailed on certainty. He has been sidelined by the players of Real Madrid because of his management style and you are going to get drama akin to a soap opera. I truly don't mind Mourinho coming back to the UK as he is entertaining and a full on personality - I am just not sure why the Chelski supporters and Abramovich would prefer sideshow over stability.

Form for Torres? Are you nuts? Do you know how many goals Torres has scored in the Premier League in 2013 ? Go on have a guess seeing as you are such an expert. Torres cost 50 million quid to be a striker, and yet has failed to score a Premier Leaugue goal this year !!!! Rafa has really turned him around eh? He scores a goal on average every 313 minutes....a superb record, thank God for Rafa eh? loon I really wish you would stop using the " moronic " word TH, as I rather find that a tad offensive coming from someone who has not got a clue about football, simply by your totally inaccurate comments, and as usual pure guessing.

Firstly YOU do not know how much Rafa was paid by Chelsea.....do you? Well show me some facts TH and not your usual opinionated nonsense. Stability? Lets see how long Moyes lasts shall we? The mere fact that you babble on constantly the word " Chelski " shows your own mentality as your own club has spent a fair few bob over the years. I could list the multi million players Fergie brought, but the way you are making it out is that Chelsea have spent millions and Utd have spent a few shillings.

Has that ever been admitted by either side, or media speculation? Can you once again show me some facts that he was sacked. The media states he was sacked but has Jose or the owner ever said that? The people that I know within the club stated at the time " mutual consent " and I have no evidence to support anything to the contrary.

Well let's wait and see what happens at Utd with an unproven manager who has won nothing yet. Already Rooney wants out with a transfer request, as it is obvious he does not want to work under Moyes again. Yes Utd had stabilty as Fergie was a winner, but is Moyes? Will the players respond to him and that stability you keep banging on about may well not last as long as you might think it will, now Fergie has gone. Time will tell.

Time will tell. For my own opinion whilst I like Moyes, I think the job will end up being too big for him. The job after Fergie is too big for any manager and I give Moyes 3 years before they will be calling for his head.

then there was of course this protest by the fans which could be classed just as moronic do you not think

Don't bother Rob as I have also asked questions, and then he strangely ignores it. Funny that eh? wink
What was the really funny thing was TH's comment about Rafa turning Torres around. Have you actually ever heard anything so ridiculous? I bet TH was not aware that Torres in fact had not scored a single fecking goal in the Premiership THIS YEAR fgs !!
Torres has been awful since his signing to Chelsea, but then again he was awful the last six months he was at Liverpool. If TH supports ( and I bet it is from an armchair )Man Utd, I wonder what the " faithful " at Man Utd would feel if Rafa was appointed their manager after Moyes has made a pigs ear of it there? He would have to be calling his own supporters morons I would suppose. Oh and I wonder how TH felt about the supporters who did and still are wearing green and yellow scarves to show their hatred of the Glazier Brothers at Utd?

Wonder what the comments are on this? innocent

I don't spend my life on here and therefore do not back read every single post. Even I did, I would not answer many of your demands (posed as questions).
Torres scored the winning goal today and in the games I have watched on TV and the analysis read and heard - Benitez has improved Torres. You may disagree. No problem.
I support my team, the whole team including the Manager. I trust the Manager to drop players if they are no good - I am just a follower of football - what would I know...
