Yeah funny how the people who would love to see that obviously want it funded by the taxpayer, as they obviously never work.
The best thing that will happen when the Tories get in is to get the welfare system by the bollocks and give it a damn good shake.
Then we will see how many are actually entitled to the benefits they receive.
Funny how we are supposed to be healthier than ever before apparently, yet more people are getting incapacity benefit than ever.
The welfare system is open to so much abuse and it is about time they made it harder for people to get it, and then maybe the bad back syndrome may take a back seat to actually getting people back into work, that can work.
The day that happens will be a day to really celebrate.
The welfare budget is out of control and I for one am sick ( no pun ) and tired of seeing genuine people struggle to get anything, yet the long term useless who abuse the system get everything on the hot and cold running benefit system...about time the roles were reversed.

Sorry Ben, but where is Dean absolutely right? If he really believes that he heard Cameron state on Radio5 that hoteliers and landlords should be able to bar gays from their establishments, then I suggest he ring Labour Party HQ immediately and inform Gordon Brown that his researchers and spin doctors are not doing the job they are paid to do. The political capital they are missing!!! Hey, it could even sway the the election result and Dean may even be mentioned in dispatches...Lord Dean of Cannock has a certain ring to it!!
I don't see any discrimination of minorities in this debate between swingers Ben, I see political claims which are patently untrue. But as I have said several times now, why let the truth get in the way?
Whilst on your favourite subject of minorities, surely the rights of devout Christians must be a cause worthy of you championing?

The fact Cameron has allowed the resignation (of the lady) without comment is deafening in it's silence
I believe that the issue of the B&B has been debated at length previously in this forum. The owners of the B&B claimed to be devout Christians and that homosexuality is at odds with their Christian beliefs. Not knowing the couple, I have no idea if that is true or if they are just homophobic. Grayling was saying that he had some sympathy for their position. He certainly never said hotel owners should be able to ban gays from their hotels and neither ( to my knowledge) has Cameron. It would be front page news otherwise.
As shadow home secretary, Grayling should have known better and has since apologised, but it's an interesting concept that no public rebuke constitutes 100% endorsement. I must remember to apply that across the whole political spectrum in future.

Oh and btw, the "lady" in question left the Tory party 2 years agobut as I said earlier, why allow the facts to get in the way of propaganda.

So we're down from two years ago to maybe 18 months ago, although that isn't clear. Even Tory Bear, who's linked to from the comments, only reports her resigning from offices in the party 18 months ago.
So, who to believe?
It is clear she believes she resigned over homophobia. And that certain well placed Tories, like Tory Bear, have been smearing her ever since, which rather makes her point for her.

If you run a B&B and if you’re religious convictions dictate that you can not have same sex couples under your roof, you are falling foul of the law. Simple. Therefore you should not run that business.

After giving it much thought these last couple of months, I have decided to resign from my position as a member of the Conservative Future National Management Executive. It is with great regret that I have come to this decision and I am grateful for everyone who voted for and backed me during my campaign.
I ran on a platform of change. I wanted to put an end to the lies, the bitching and the gossiping and transform Conservative Future in to a professional, responsible and united organisation which this party could be proud to call its future. Those around me warned me against becoming involved in Conservative Future – they warned me of the bad reputation it had within the party, but I stuck to my guns and insisted I wanted to help bring about change – remind us we were all on the same team, remind us what we were fighting for, and help introduce new forms of activism and campaigning through social action. Instead I have found myself at the centre of the very accusations, lies, and gossip which I campaigned to stop – some of them just plain silly, some of them more serious and upsetting to me on a very personal level, but all of which false. I have been shocked and appalled by the calculated level of gossip mongering that happens in Conservative Future and now no longer believe the change I once promised is possible.
In resigning, I want to be able to dedicate more time to my position as founder of LGBTory. We have recently been personally endorsed by David Cameron and I want to be there every step of the way, to watch the organisation grow, to watch our achievements unfold and to congratulate our members who I am so proud off and thankful for each and every day for their hard work and determination. I also wish to continue my work in social action. Social action has taught me the true meaning of politics and is probably what has kept me in Conservative Future for so long. I aim to continue my work there as a social action liaison figure and look forward to developing the many ideas which I am working on currently right across the country with local Conservatives. I don't want to wait for the day after a general election to make the changes our party advocates, and through LGBTory and Social Action, I hope to begin helping to make those changes today.
I thank Michael Rock and continue to offer him my full support as a fellow party member and as a confidante who I admire and respect greatly. I also thank those on the NME who I have grown close to as both colleagues and as friends, and thank them for their continued support and trust. Conservative Future could be an amazing organisation if we would only just let it, get over ourselves and remember we are all fighting for the same thing. The turning point came when I met a Conservative who told me he wasn't renewing his party membership because he didn't want to be a part of Conservative Future. Our behaviour is turning people away and I cannot be a part of that anymore. Please stop and think about what the public gossiping does to the image of our organisation.
I look forward to dedicating more time to LGBTory and social action and maintaining the close friendships I have made through my involvement with C.F. I am also at the beginning of my degree in Medieval Islamic History, and I dare say my resignation will be a welcome move by my tutors as I will be able to dedicate more time and effort to my studies, which by the way are going pretty good.
Lastly, I thank those who have reminded me what we are fighting for and who have made me realise what truly matters – you know who you are and your kind words will never be forgotten. Onwards and upwards to bigger better things!

From what I have read, she later fell out big time with other members of LBGT-ory, unless of course you are saying that all that is Tory smear. It would also appear that she was born humble Stacy but changed her name to Anastasia on her move south from Scotland, so not the Tory blue blood that some would have us to believe.

From what I have read, she later fell out big time with other members of LBGT-ory, unless of course you are saying that all that is Tory smear. It would also appear that she was born humble Stacy but changed her name to Anastasia on her move south from Scotland, so not the Tory blue blood that some would have us to believe.
That's the email proving she resigned form a position within the party, not from the party itself - thank you for proving me right on that.

Will you lot PLEASE learn to cut your quotes down a bit - I'm getting a migraine scrolling down 7-10 quotes within quotes. :jagsatwork:
It isn't hard - you just highlight the sections you don't need, press the Del button on you keyboard. You could always type in 'snip' to indicate what you've done. But either way - please consider your readers.

My veiw Ben, is very different than yours
On the 2nd of May 1997, I was on Emoor with 3 very close friends, staying in a holiday had spent a wonderful social day following the Emoor Stag Hounds. The evening was not so joyful as we watched the inevitable election results roll in. But Blue I shared your fears. But then I havent forgotten how in 1982 the only job I could get in the west midlands as a graduate engineer was working out redundancy settlements for engineering workers.
In 5 years time you must remind me of the compassionate people focused government we have enjoyed. And if we have shared that experience I will buy you a pint.

We have been Lucky here on the south coast. I started work in Easter 1981, and have not been out of work since, in fact I even work in the same industry for that whole time.
All the party's have there good policy's and crap policy's. I just have to choose the party that best suits me, that happens to be the same one I have always voted for.
Would nice to join you for a pint before 5 years Ben. wink

To everyone, but particularly those of you quoted above, please keep your personal opinions about others actions to yourselves and do not engage in name-calling and one-upmanship.
