Partly inspired by mentioning Leonard (from Big Bang Theory) in another thread, and as a result of Leonard and Penny's off-on-off-and-on again relationship, I thought about this. Your ex (any ex that comes to mind) -- Would you get back with him or her? Have you ever got back with him or her? How did that work out for you? Dammie's Law -- I got back with my ex, and split up, and got back, and split up again, and on and on, many times, in various guises over the years. We are more Leonard and Penny than Leonard and Penny (he's Penny, btw!) Now, we're kinda friends, but sex is out of the question. Too weird. You?
Ahhhh. The ex. *sigh* I have one, y'know, THE one. The one that definitely got away. That one. He's hot. I find him unbelievably sexually attractive. But we're fundamentally incompatible in terms of a relationship. We've been together. Then not. Then again. Then sometimes when we shouldn't be. Now, we're just pals. And, whilst I can appreciate his attractiveness, I no longer pine for him emotionally. We meet occasionally for coffee & we exchange pleasantries. Occasionally there will be a brushing of hands and I will actually physically gasp. But chemistry is chemistry. The past is the past. We've moved on. He still figures in the odd ladywank fantasy scenario though :lickface:

That pretty much sums up how I feel about my recent ex in many ways, although I'm not as detached as I'd like to be yet. :-( However, I know absolutely that when my ex-husband and I split it was the right decision. We've both completely moved on and stayed great friends. To the extent that I was his best man (with boobs) when he remarried last year and his wife is one of my best mates. So, no, I wouldn't do him again, no way, no how. The last one though ... *big sigh*. I miss him and his laughter. And I'd do him again like a shot.

LOL. Yes, I guess that's true in general. Though, to be serious about this (for once), I think the success of any second dips at a relationship would depend on what the problems were in the first place.

Left my Wife of many years around 12 years ago. I have to say there has not been a single day when I regretted it. She is the Mother of my two children so will always have a tie there, but my new Wife is younger and smarter, and just loves sex. All the things my ex loathed or lacked. Never go back anyway.

We were similar in some ways but massively different in others. Oddly I don't think it was the big differences that were the problem -- we seemed to sweat the small stuff, and never get around that :crazy:
I definitely agree with ex`s are called that for a reason. I was married for many a year to a childhood sweetheart and while we went on to have 2 fantastic sons I fell out of love with him many many years before we actually split, which was my decision by the way. Everyone who knows me in my real life knows that I would never ever EVER go back, the thought of it actually makea a little bit of vom rise in my throat :crazy: He got remarried not so long ago, good luck to them that`s what I say, me I like my own company
I wouldn't even consider getting back together with my ex husband. But my most recent ex... let's just say Nola's story sounds very familiar. I'd fancied him for at least 12 years before we got together, and whether we're together or not, that chemistry is always there. But I drive him mad with some of my idiosyncrasies, and he drives me mad with his prudishness. Yes, I fell in love with a prude :giggle: It's highly unlikely we'll get back together this time, but if it ever did become a possibility then I know there'd be a huge battle between my head and my heart - and I honestly have no idea which would win

My old boss, who I worked for when the ex and I were together, once said to me that you can learn to live with political/ideological differences etc, but the things like folding the toothpaste tube up wrong, or not making the bed, that'd be the stuff that could drive a relationship over the edge.
