Groups; how do you use them?

I was wondering how people use the groups. I use them to find people who I may meet.

We find the groups lifeless and boring so we don't use them at all.

I don't use groups as such. I simply don't understand the need/function. I am in a few - nothing has happened as a result. I joined one for a social and that seems to collect threads to do with that social, not sure if the threads are available outrside the group anyway? Does anyone have a list of the extra functions that Groups make possible?
Do they have a useful function? Or are they like the Friends facility - which, as far as I can see, has absolutely no function on top of what you can do by clicking on someone's profile anyway. dunno

I forgot to vote, but have now.
I was hoping to find peeps in the same area and into swinging spas and then meet some of them, may be as a group. It has not worked out that way.
What I do have is a list of people who are considering things I am interested in. I must make use of that.

Sorry, I clicked to respond to the question prior to becoming aware that it was a vote with 3 choices, none of which have anything to do with why I would have anything to do with groups.
