Cross thread posting here...
But since Chris Huhne has apparently announced his resignation from the LimDems (of which he was a founder member) one presumes that in his reincarnation, he will join other disaffected and disgraced MPs and join UKIP bolt

I suppose he will submit his forms from his prison cell then?
Eight months in prison, out after 3 if he is a good boy. But seeing as he will be a convicted scoundrel no UKIP for him GnV, as I am sure a person who has served time in prison cannot become an MP??

Not under current legislation. Only if sentenced to more than 12 months or if in jail at the time of the election.
Perhaps the judge is a UKIP supporter wink

Maybe he could be because come the next election there will be a few of that you can be sure. Maybe a power share with Labour I would guess at.

Huhne received a 10% reduction in his sentence because he pleaded guilty.
Mr Justice Sweeney said Pryce's "weapon of choice" - telling newspapers she took the points - was a dangerous weapon because they had both broken the law.
Mr Justice Sweeney said point-swapping was "all too easy to do" but it amounts to the serious criminal offence of perverting the course of justice.
As the The CPS is understood to have run up about £100,000 in costs after Huhne attempted to have the prosecution against him thrown out before the trial began, hopefully he'll also have costs awarded against him so as to recover this, given that he pleaded guilty.

Will they be asking the judge to contribute to their 'hotel' costs whilst in prison as he is the one who sent them there?

Even though I would love to see them pay these costs, will it wrongly not come out of the public purse?

Cor Blimey star, using double negatives!
You been boning up on the law books recently?
For perverting the course of the law they normally give the max sentence too. Which is about bizarrely a common law crime and the sentence is life too.
He will be out in 4 and on expenses again. Bet his sons pissing himself laughing though. His Dad being someones bitch for 4 months inside lol .. but hey .. they couldnt look worse than his ex wife .. Gok Wan couldnt do anything with that lady

Go fuck yourself :kick:
You're only jealous. No wonder the elderly get poor treatment in good old blighty with arseholes like you calling the shots.
Total disrespect for your elders, and I was only passing a compliment! Heaven knows what treatment I could expect if I was to bad mouth you!!
Wouldn't get that sort of treatment from Polish care workers :lol2:

How would you know living in France.
Always have respect for my elders but that respect is usually earned. But as a person who gets the cold weather payment then I would suggest you are a pensioner, and in my book makes you an elderly person. Just something you have to deal with, no point taking it out on me because I mentioned that fact. rolleyes

Where it clearly states..... ' Most countries have accepted the chronological age of 65 years as a definition of 'elderly' or older person '.
If you would prefer ' older person ' I can use that instead if you like.:bounce:
Well star, for one who constantly refers to the web for sources of reference, you seem to have failed miserably on this one.
The WFA is/was paid to people from the age of 60 as in my case. I will not be a 'pensioner' in the traditional sense of the word until I am 65, like everybody else (excepting those, of course now caught up in the austerity measures like V who will not now get her pension until she is 63 when she was expecting to get it at age 60 in a month's time).
As for your ridiculous statement about how i might know aout what goes on in good 'ol blighty, surprising though it may seem, France has this new fangled electricity thingy called a television rolleyes
They even broadcast programs in the English language (although I'm quite competent at understanding French) from which it is not too difficult to learn of the awful treatment of vulnerable people in hospitals like Stafford, amongst others. The treatment of the aged at the hands of their fellow Brits and more particularly, their children, is well known throughout Europe whereas the family is held in higher esteem outside British shores.
But, being the bigot you already describe yourself to be, you just cannot bring yourself to admit that peoples from the continent of Europe and beyond are far more caring of the vulnerable and just dismiss it by posting worthless links.
Same old, same old

Cheers for the info GnV as I thought you got it at pensionable age being 65 for a man and 60 for a woman. I am obviously wrong on that so thanks for the up. worship
The highlighted bit I fail to understand your point. I think the UK is caring towards the needy but I do not think people who can afford to live abroad should receive a cold winter payment from the taxpayers of the UK.
That is what is so wrong with our welfare system that allows foreign workers to claim child benefit for children that do not even live in the UK, and how people living abroad are given a winter fuel payment. It is utter madness and proves why this country is in such a mess financially, and why it in certain cases needed the welfare system seriously looked at. I have heard that bus passes and winter payments will possibly be stopped at some point in the future and I believe it should without a doubt be a means tested benefit and not given by right. So enjoy it while you can.
Oh star, FFS! Make your mind up will you.

Oh in that case it should without a doubt be a means tested benefit, as should free bus travel.

Yes, you did.
Problem is that you just can't keep up with rubbish you constantly pimp out on these forums...

I think you will find that more posts have been written over the last month than for a while now.
You are the kind of person that just has to watch a controversial program on the telly, and then complain about it.

I disagree with you GNV, It might have done years ago with the odd heated slanging match it used to draw people in. What goes on now is different it is constant nitpicking in almost every thread. It is a reason I stopped posting ages ago and making threads.
It is also why I have stopped writing recently. It really does seem nobody has much interest in what others write here they just wait to pounce on people they can poke at.
So I bid you all good luck in trying to keep these forums going.
These things run in cycles minx.
Occasionally, you get another new regular poster along who contributes well to the forum and we all benefit from it so keeping them turning over with drivel sometimes works.
