Which MPs have served a prison sentence and then returned to the House?
Personally, I can't think of any.

If an MP is imprisoned for a period greater than one year they are removed from the House. However there have been a convicted and imprisoned for shorter periods that have then returned to carry on their Parliamentary duties.
Ah so I could have been right then Trev? Got some names for me?
There's a clickie for a reason lol

With Cameron forcing through new legislation with regards to gay ' marriage ', I thought that any new law that was passed through the House of Commons, then had to be sent to the Hose of Lords also? Is that happening in this case do you know, as it seems that Cameron is giving members a ' free vote ' ha ha ha on this issue, and that it will be passed as law.
Do you know what the usual procedure is and is it the same in this case? I ask as this issue seems to be splitting the Tories right down the middle on this.
Cheers. passionkiss

A Bill is a draft law; it becomes an Act if it is approved by a majority in the House of Commons and House of Lords, and formally agreed to by the reigning monarch (known as Royal Assent). An Act of Parliament is a law, enforced in all areas of the UK where it is applicable.
This Bill is at it's second reading, and if it passes it will move to the committee stage before a final reading in the House. If it passes again it will be passed to the Lords who will also carry out a similar process. If the Lords are happy with the Bill it will be passed by Royal Assent and become Law.

Interesting link Trev.
One Member on the list (Peter Robinson) is now First Minister, Northern Ireland.
I think all were in political protest at something or other and on principle rather than for the sort of criminality Mr Huhne is accused of.

So I was right all along then GnV? I admit it took another member to show this, and I admit I thought it was for another MP, but what I originally said was correct. 69position

Thanks very much Trev. It is pretty much what I thought in that the Lords had to pass it as well before it can become law. Well Cameron had better be very careful indeed with this bill as many a Tory are opposed to this, and it seems so are a huge amount of the general public ( me included )with a bill like this that was not even on the agenda of the Tory manifesto and yet has become a number one priority for the PM.
I personally hope the Lords reject the bill.

Always best to back up your contentions with evidence star....

Yes of course GnV, but on this occasion it seems I could not find it and Trev did. I admitted I was wrong in the original statement, are you now going to admit that by hook or by crook, I was indeed right then?
Do I hear an apology coming forth? :small-print:

Yes you are correct GnV.I was thinking of that other liar Jeffrey Archer

Where is the waiting emotion? lol
Fuck off star.
I accused you of nothing and have nothing to apologise for. I simply asked a question which was answered by Trev.
I then thanked Trev for the information.
Haven't you some washing up to do?

So how was it intended to read and what is the relevance of the word OTHER, as in "other Tory toff" when no other Tories are mentioned?

You bored or something Max?
If that is the only contribution you want to make to this forum, whether I meant Tory or Liberal, and the word ' other ',then we would have no posting at all if everyone else wanted to be as trivial.
Max you are correct. Is that better? Back to the washing up Max. :rascal:
I'll make whatever contribution I feel like making, trivial or not. No washing up to do tonight, I'm in your beloved London Town so will be seeing what bright lights have to offer wink
blast in Plaistow perhaps?

Did you not see that I wrote on this very forum that I now live in Thamesmead? Yes of course you do for you was making many a comment to me with regards to the conversation I had with Minx about where she lived. Ring a bell now? banghead
Don't you just hate it when you find that people haven't updated their profile...

Depends on what part of London Town you will be going to Max. The West end is lights and party atmosphere, the East end is pretty much a bit of a dive now to be honest. North London has the borough of Tottenham Hale in it so I will say no more, and South London well.......I think we have already done the South London to bits. lol
But wherever you go Max, it will certainly be a good change from the kitchen sink and a bit of Fairy.

What are you one of the few people on here GnV, that actually believes a profile? The profile of a Politician would be more honest than the ones found on here.
No need to change ours I am afraid as we look for people, not the other way around. rotflmao

Thanks for the geography lesson but I spend sufficient time away from the kitchen sink and in London to know my way around. Maybe you should get out a little more, they do say travel broadens the mind!
Vicky Price looks like she might be up for the Total Divorce Bitch From Hell award. What a shitty woman she is being portrayed as - no thought for her kids, no thought for any possible outcome other than the destruction of her ex husband. No surprise at all that his kids have been poisoned if they had it in the ear from her 24/7.

I hope the prosecution's case holds favour and she goes down for it as well.
She bloody well knew what she was doing. To suggest now she was browbeaten into it by her husband is laughable.

 I couldn't agree more.
ex's do the strangest things
that much i do know loon
She's no better than he is - she was an active participant in the perversion of the justice. And only outing him as revenge is actually worse not a mitigation.
And it's not as if he just lied the once - he lied over and over again. There should be a hefty fine for each and every recorded lying event. :giggle:
She's a fucking nightmare!
How on earth does she think that by entering those recorded telephone conversations which she has admitted she set up with Oakshot to trap him will help?
If anything, I puts Mr Huhne is a good light. Why on earth has he pleaded guilty?
Good point flower.
But how is that going to get his 'get out of jail free' card? dunno
Well, it backfired on her spectacularly.
Guilty as changed.
Now she faces jail alongside her ex husband.
She should have just kept her trap shut.

Well we shall soon find out as they will be sentenced within 24 hours.
He is without a shadow of a doubt a weasel of a man and she is a liar as has now been proved in court. They really should have stayed together as they are both as corrupt as each other.
I would want 18 months each and I hope there is a big hairy gorilla of a prisoner in there to shaft him up his arse, the same way he has shafted so many other people in his miserable life.
I didn't thnk a date has yet been set for sentencing....
Obviously, you have the Judge's ear

She, on the other hand will probably enjoy life in Holloway. She looks the type wink

Seems to me that two people who were married agreed that one of them would take the blame for the others MINOR crime.
Somewhere down the line one of them decided to try stitching the other one up !!
Be careful out there lol

That just about sums it up perfectly.
If you tape phone conversations and dont tell the caller you are .. isnt that entrapment or am i watching too much CSI Vegas here. He must be a total c*&t if his son hates him and the ex does this to you.
You get longer for perverting the course of the ass of law than or manslaughter .. the judges dont like you in front for messing with the law and getting rumbled.
Its a major crime in their eyes not minor .. minor is singing offensive songs at plod while pissing on their panda car on a night out .. you dont go to crown court for minors but have more chance of getting away with it there.
Lesbian spinsters with cats are usually magistrates and give the max sentence every time. The law is truly an ass here but the lot in the parliament apart from big Dave and his minister for NHS deserves a minimum 3 years in pokey ..
Bunch of crooks and fibbers ...
Is his ex wife on the same charge too then? Must be .. give her an extra year for being retarded i say
jailed for not taking 3 points and a 60 quid fine .. oooops
They run the country too ... jeeeeez we are dooooooomed i tell ya
we should have the pol pot chap in charge.
he frees up much needed space and bring property prices down biggrin

Seems sentencing is going to be on Monday GnV.
I am thinking 12 months each but to be spent in the same cell.............that will serve both of these horrible people right. I cannot think of a better sentence to be honest. lol
Cross thread posting here...
But since Chris Huhne has apparently announced his resignation from the LimDems (of which he was a founder member) one presumes that in his reincarnation, he will join other disaffected and disgraced MPs and join UKIP bolt
