i was out and about today and went past a Citroen garage advertising a new fuel efficient van. it indicated that it could do 81 mpg. mpg i though, what is a gallon?
does anyone know how many miles there car or van does to a litre of unleaded or diesel? whenever i hear peeple talking about how good there cars are on fuel, i always hear them talking about miles per gallon. why? we no longer buy our fuel in gallons only in litres now.
so if someone says as an example, my car does 42 mpg, would they know what that is per litre? i very much doubt it. is that because if peeple knew that it was say doing 16 miles per litre that they would then be saying, blimey it costs me to do 16 miles. as nobody knows what there car does to a litre is this another con as to why the car manufacturers continue to use gallons when studying fuel consumptions for cars?
is it yet another con?
does anyone here actually know what there car does a litre, or does anyone here know without searching on the internet how many litres there are to a gallon? then does anyone know how much a gallon of petrol actually be as of todays prices?
maybe if you find out you may realise the car industry using gallons instead of litres.
