So Jonathon Ross is leaving the BBC after 13 years eh? After the Beeb have payed him, what is enough for most people, their children, and their childrens children to live their working lives with generous pensions to each he's off.
I think its pretty much a joke that any TV celeb is payed these crazy sums of money and to think that anyone would think different to me in this i would find interesting to read their point of view.
My vote goes to...He aint a loss is Ross
For some reason I'm having problems posting just the one reply/topic today but hey I think its been tidied up a little. Hey I didn't even think the topic had entered as it wasn't there when I looked after submitting.
I think your point is very true Meaty. It does seem that the beeb seem to over expose us too its "Flavour of the months" As for Wossy, wehen he was on channel 4 late night years ago it was the right format for him I think. A sort of late night Carry On character hosting late night chat.
Oh and how stage managed could it be when wossy came out to give a press statement with a tray of tea mugs for the paperazzi followed by his wife with a teapot and daughters with tea and sugar. almost vomit inducing.
I have a problem with anybody who gets an obscenely large share of the wealth pie when there are millions of folk living in poverty. Ross is actually a minor figure in the obscene reward stakes and not representative of the vast majority of the relatively wealthy relatively idle rich. Now where's my copy of the Ragged Trousered Philanthropist and Marxism today.
No loss as far as I'm concerned - I never found him amusing and always changed radio or TV channels if I ever accidentally encountered his broadcasts.
However, the blame lies with the poor taste of the listeners and viewers who patronised his shows. Clearly, millions find him entertaining and worth the money, otherwise, they could have turned off too.
It's the same argument about footballers (never watch it) and other celebs, it's those who patronise it that give it value - if there was no demand, there would be no money
