Katie Price has complained to Ofcom about a "vile" joke Frankie Boyle made about her disabled son Harvey during his Channel 4 show.
Viewers of Boyle's Tramadol Nights were warned the show on Tuesday included "very strong language" just before it was broadcast
Yes I watched the show, and yes there was a joke about Katie & her son.
Personally, like watching and listening to Frankie, as always something thought provoking, whereas will always turn the TV channel over when she appears.
The joke was in very bad taste and I didn't find it funny.
Should this type of joke warrant legal action? It is just a joke, not an accusation. If this wins then this could be the end of comedy.

i dont think that anyone should make jokes about people with disabilities
i think thats in very bad taste
i dont know what he said but it seems it was a personal comment which is even worse and despite that fact that she makes public her life and her kids life it still doesnt give anyone the right to make fun of a child with additional needs
Flower, yeah, pretty much agree. Katie Price, in the twilight of her 'career', has quite happily offered her family up for public consumption and made an 'alf decent living out of it by all accounts, so she can hardly complain overmuch all of a sudden if others see her kids as being somehow public domain? Perhaps there's a lesson in this somewhere for her? dunno Then again, perhaps not? rolleyes lol
I missed the show first time round, so had to google to see what the fuss was about. I'm almost ashamed to admit I lolled. Very briefly, and then I immediately felt guilty afterwards, in a 'Bugger me Frankie, you can't say that!' kinda way. :uhoh: It was maybe more of an 'oooof' than it was yer actual lol perhaps? confused Worst thing is I went out of my way and forced meself to stay awake so I could watch the repeat, but as it turns out it weren't really worth the effort, mainly cos he wasn't actually all that funny? Jerry Sadowitz can get away with that sort of humour cos he goes out of his way to be equally offensive to everyone, but Frankie's targets seemed a bit too easy?
N x x x ;)
I did not see it and have not herd it, but bad taste jokes do not bother me one jot, 90% of comedy is about some ones misfortune's

I watch this guy on TV most weeks and read his articles in the Sun. He ridicules everything, living or dead. There is nothing that he has not poked fun at. Even his wife and kids have been on the sharp end of his humour.

making jokes about Katie Price......acceptable and fair game
making jokes about her disabled son....unacceptable and poor taste
The sunday afternoon pub comedian, can get away with it maybe.....but on national TV.....I personally think its wrong. Its not the lads fault his Mom is Katie Price or that he is disabled. Now then equally you can't take someone to court for it. However an apology would not go amiss....
I never realised Frankie Boyle was a comedian. When did that happen?

I actually think he is very funny, it is my type of humour what he usually does redface

Katie price may have made her life public domain but that does not include her children. They havent signed up for anything and should be left out of material for comedians short on ideas. No doubt at some point probably sooner rather than later with kids being kids this will get repeated to Harvey. Hmm nice things for him to contemplate there then.
My thoughts are, if Miss Price had let this go and let it go over her head, a very large portion of the population would not have heard the joke, but due to her protest almost everyone in the country now knows about it. IMO, she is just using this as another publicity stunt. If this was me, I would have thought to myself, what is the best way to handle this with my child's best interest at heart? The answer has to be keep quite and let it blow over as quickly as possible. That way, most children likely to come into contact with him would never have known about this.

Well there is a multitude of answers to that. How you and her deal with it and how others would deal with it. Lets be honest in some parts of the country that comment would mean you would probably end up digesting some of your nose bone :lol2:

Perhaps so, but to me, if you have the childs interest at heart there is only one way forward.
I dont particularly like that way blue. Sit in the corner and be quiet and hope no one noticed? Nah thats not for me nor for Mrs Price it seems. I cant honestly see her doing that for publicity, its not like she needs any and she could do 100 other things to get it if she wanted. If people in this case a comedian can be held to account maybe by Channel 4 or Ofcom then good luck to her in complaining.
Funny when you consider the whole Jonathon Ross Russell Brand and Andrew Sachs debacle. Had this been said in a telephone message Boyle could be facing prosecution. Funny thing about that is its not the phone call that makes it disgusting is it its whats said :-?

You may not like that way tweeky, but surely the best way to protect the child from this event is to minimise the amount who know about it? There are so many things in this life, when letting some thing go rather than pursuing it is the better way, in my view.
Strangely, I have a bigger problem with the phone calls to be honest, it feels more like a direct attack, by leaving such messages on his answer machine they have actually entered the mans home and violated his privacy. Feels more direct.
I am also probably biased by the fact that I do not particularly find it offensive, therefore hope he is not held accountable on this occasion.

I'm inclined to agree, Blue. I don't find him particularly funny and realise some might find his 'jokes' offensive, but it would have been best ignored.

There comes a point in any job role whatever you want to call it where people should become accountable for their actions. If you are a member of the public like Katie Price and your offspring has been insulted on a stage for the country to see you can make a complaint. Lets be honest any of us makes that remark were probably out of a job. Comedy is no exception to the rule and thats why acts like the 1970's Bernard manning acts are no longer acceptable on main stream TV or any TV I imagine. I would add to the list of no longer acceptable jokes ones about kids fucking their mothers where the mother and kid are named.
I am a huge stand up comedy fan in fact its my favorite kind of comedy above all else. I have gained one very important lesson from this and that is simply one comedian I dont need to watch.

Fair comment I would say
