Those that complain that the won't eat Halal meat because of the way it is produced might want to remember how chicken and other meats are produced in this country. The high end is fine - but the cheap end is battery-farming to rival the worst abroad and the slaughtering is often done so clumsily that the animals are still alive when they have their throats cut or are dunked in boiling water to loosen the feathers.
We (the UK) are not in any position to berate other country's or group's food prodcution.
We are lucky that the majority wins an election, for if the minority party were to get in purely because they are the minority...welcome to the world of the BNP.
So a minority is not always a good thing then.
It is also known as democracy!
People are oh so quick to chuck the be tolerant card about, but it seems some who band that about are the most intolerant of others.
Talk about double standards. At least I admit I am intolerant and make NO excuses for that either btw.
Whats so current about this topic muslims have been eating Halal meat since donkeys of years, all i see here is someone thumbing his chest about tolenrance and contradicting themselves over and over again,am afraid have not read all the comments, the heading just like the sun's newspaper is self explanatory and probably misleading!
Where exactly is the contradictions?
Seems yet another subject people cannot talk about for fear of being labeled what exactly this time?
Lets go and hide in a corner and not talk about anything even slightly contentious, for fear of upsetting anyone at anytime.
Seems the tolerant/intolerant word is used a lot.
Providing choice is one thing.
Removing choice is another.
If we are looking at the base of the thread, it would appear what we have here is a commercial decission.
A company is hoping for a larger market share, and protecting it's assets in the process.
It is either ignoring, or disregarding the choices and preferences of a large section of society because it believes them to be 'unimportant'.
They are not.
It is not 'unaware'.
It has no conscience, and niether would it display any semblance of consideration for anything but the profit margin unless it had to.
