Lee Rigby reporting for duty in soldiers heaven where many have gone before his duties here carried out with honour.
Respect and our thoughts for you and your family
I found out today that he had split up from his wife and was engaged to a female soldier who was serving in Afghanistan when he was killed. No one seems arsed about how she is.
It made me quite sad.
Sadly that is standard Army practice, KIA (killed in action) as a married man, the wife will get the pension, assistance from the Regiment and lot's more from the likes of SSAFA etc, but KIA when engaged with a date set means nothing, it has happened for as long as I can remember, fiancés don't get informed of the death, benefits, pensions or anything else.
For that reason I got married by special licence at a Registrar Office 36 hours before flying out to my first conflict, lucky for me I came back, not so lucky for my wife, we had the wedding planned we just brought it forward to protect her.
I recommend any of you who have family or friends in a similar situation to advise them to make a will NOW, make sure a non-related loved one is taken care of.
Everyone should have a will and make sure it is clear and concise "share between my kids" can cause years of litigation if they choose to argue about who gets what. Remember you might be worthless now but the moment and cause of your death could make you a multi millionaire, suppose your hit by a runaway train, a bus with illegal tyres, a "without due care and attention" driver, your insurance payment from the other party or compensation could run to millions and with no will in place the government could get a large slice of it or it could go to the wrong person.
