At a lecture last week titled, 'Royal Bodies' Hilary Mantel criticised Kate Middleton. Quoting from an article in The Daily Telegraph:
'Mantel believed Kate Middleton to be “a jointed doll on which certain rags are hung. In those days she was a shop-window mannequin, with no personality of her own, entirely defined by what she wore.”
Was this criticism justified?

It wasn't criticism, it has been taken out of context of her entire speech. Hilary Mantel was "describing what she saw as a view of Kate constructed by the press and public opinion"
So just the Daily Mail (it appeared here first as a front page spread) and others of its ilk making a story out of nothing.

Didn't have a clue who Hilary Mantel so I googled images of her - she couldn't even criticise me for how I look and dress and I am a minger. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
