Hi all,
I need some advice please. I have a basic Nokia phone with a lot of quite long texts, redeived and sent on it. I'm told that because this phone is a very basic model that I cannot download these texts to a computer. OK. I', told in a 'phone' shop in Bridgend that my phone won't but more up to date phones will send texts to the computer.
I was told in the 'phone' shop of a supermarket, T*****, yesterday that no phone, even up to date more expensive ones will download texts. Can't believe that with all the technology present that you can't do that!
Who is right? I still need a basic phone but would be happy to upgrade to one which can transfer texts. If it can be done, what do I need to check/ask for?
Thanks

I had an I phone 4 up until about a month ago and changed it to a Samsung Galaxy s3. I found an app called Easy phone sync, and I managed to transfer all of my text messages from one phone to another. I am unsure if this app can do a basic text transfer from an old Nokia phone, but it certainly can be done as I have done it. The highlighted bit above is wrong and I hate it when shop staff who are supposed to know what they are talking about, give out wrong and misleading information to customers.

' The app runs on both Macs and PCs and provides options for relocating music, videos, podcasts, pictures, contacts, and text messages.
One part that may well be correct is the advice that it cannot be done on old phone. Hope that helps.

My last phone was a Nokia, and it came with PC software that connected the phone up to the PC. Amongst other things (like allowing you to donwload photos etc) it also had an interface program which allowed you to manage your texts (and even compose/send them) from the PC. Now, I know your phone is 'basic', but there might be something on the which would let you do something similar.
The other option might be to copy all your texts to your phone's sim or memory card, and then pull them back to a newer phone from there.
Most phones offer the functionality to export as Cubes has indicated.
RTF format when exporting works well and can easily be imported, phone numbers etc. to most devices.
There are loads of alternative available and Google will assist.

Plenty of programs about that will transfer basic Nokia's to computers, depending on Operating system
I think that if you can connect the phone to computer using either a wire, or something like Bluetooth you can probably transfer the texts somehow. All of the phones I have had that can be connected could also behave a bit like a memory stick and appear as another drive on the computer. Rooting around on the drive I have found the texts.
If you can't I guess the other possibilities would be to forward the texts either to somebodies phone which can be connected to the computer, or maybe even (*).
(*) is like a phone on the computer, and if you pay money can be set up with a number to either make calls, or text messages.
Forgive me, I can't help, no knowledge whatsoever about such things. I don't do texts, well hardly ever, useful for sending an address or phone number or appointment confirmation. I seldom read them and I delete them in bunches. When people ask if I received their text message I tell them I don't know because I don't read them, but they still keep sending them I think.
