Thanks for the insight Neil.
I would have thought though that after your first " act " whilst being pissed, out of your face, or whatever else you would like to call it.....you would have learnt a very valuable lesson.
Doing it a second time you obviously had not.
Blaming disgustings acts on drink, is a cop out. If anyone cannot hold their drink, and then goes on to do things that society finds disgusting, then don't drink. Or better still drink indoors and piss or shit over your own items. Now that sounds so much more sensible to me.
No wonder people call it " the demon drink ".
I understand what you are saying Neil, but are you sticking up for this guy purely because you acted that way when you was young? It is not a good idea to tar everyone with the same brush, because I can assure you I have never done anything like that.
Yes I used to like a drink BUT the difference is that I knew when I had had enough, and then to stop. Does that make me an old fashioned fart who obviously did not know how to have a good time, unless I got so pissed up that I went and di things that most would just find disgusting acts.
Sorry I must have led a very unbalanced life when young.
The Err "young man" caught pissing on the war memorial is just one in a huge line of incidents that happen in the UK every week now. Many news items are only reported regionally and so it is not so easy to see that bigger picture. It is also worth noting that the police are so busy now that some blatant crimes that are reported are not treated as serious enough to require any kind of action or investigation.
I have five children aged between 7 and 22, and I do worry about things like peer pressure and outside influences as they grow up. Mr Kent is right when he talks about feral youth or children, because by the very definition of the word that is what some parents are producing. If you own a cat and you stop feeding it, stop letting it in the house, and leave it to fend for itself it will use it's instincts to survive, it will go feral. It is the same with children that are not being looked after. If their parents don't care about them then society sure as hell doesn't, until they go too far.
How many times do you read about gangs of young people hanging around outside peoples houses making their lives miserable? In all honesty it is very rarely reported in the press because the police hardly ever take any action. We do however hear, more and more frequently about fathers trying to reason with these gangs and getting attacked, and more often than not murdered, for their trouble. This is of course typical of the way the authorities deal with things in broken Britain, if they can they will sweep a problem under the carpet, but sooner or later there is too much under the carpet and the problems have gone from mole hills to mountains.
I honestly believe this country is too far gone for reforms to work now, there will be some kind of civil unrest, there will be riots of the type never witnessed here before, people will lose their properties, be injured, and some will lose their lives. When it is all over and the dust begins to settle, those who remain will be faced with the task of rebuilding. I only hope they do a better job of it this time, not same old same old, everything needs to change.
Like I said in the war memorial thread, forget the past and forget the lessons learned. If lessons are learned from the mess we are in now then let us hope they are never forgotten. No pissing on the memories because you cannot look forward if you forget the past.
BG.
Find one person on this whole topic who has not agreed with you 777 about this guy doing wrong, you cant. We all agree with the fact that he's done wrong although what we disagree with is the severity of the justice you would have meted out.
I never said anyone has Losty.
What I am so angry about is people making excuses for his behavour when there are clearly NO excuses.
You see Losty the Loony left are always blaming everything else, other than the main causes.
They are always stating that the child did not have this or did not have that.....excuses all the time.
Maybe his name being branded around the media will teach him a very valuable lesson Losty, and that is....if you want to piss on something then go and piss on your own doorstep.
Without the media hype here, do you really think the police or the courts would have acted in the way they are now doing? Of course not but they now have to be seen to do something, and I am glad that we have the media reporting on crimes like this.
Or we could do away with the media and just have the Guardian, with it's social worker readership, and they can tell us that everything is ok out there, it is all a myth.
Yes Losty you are quite correct, nobody has jumped to this guys defence as such, but making excuses for his behavour can you not see that is exactly what you are doing, allbeit in a roundabout way?
My son is at University, and he like's to go out with his mates and have a few drinks...i don't know what he has got up to, but have seen the odd picture on facebook...after seeing this stupid boy piss on the war memorial, the first thing i thought was "fuck that could have been my son"...and thats not because he is a little shit who was dragged up rather than brought...he is a good kid,who never hung out with gangs, and was happier in the park playing footie or on his x-Box...my point is we are all guilty of doing something stupid, yes even you Kent, and don't deny it,we all have...either through drinking too much or peer pressure from others...this lad did a stupid thing a really stupid thing, but from all the publicity it has receieved he will not get a fair hearing and more than likely get a custodial sentence and kicked out of Uni...his punishment, sadly doesn't fit the crime he commited!
There was a time when such a crime would have caused the offender to be birched. People will say that was too extreme, inhumane, whatever. Still I bet if he had the choice between the birch or going to prison and getting kicked out of uni???
The fact is that people are too soft, there is no discipline and therefore no respect.
Rumour is Ian Huntley has successfully sued the prison authorities because he was assaulted by an inmate. Let me take over and I assure you this sort of thing will not happen. He most certainly won't be getting assaulted in prison, because he would be one of many that will be receiving what they are long long overdue. A noose around his neck, or maybe let the parents of the victims exact their revenge.
Powers....why am I naive ??
Are you saying that my Daughters could do something like this?
You know my Daughters....do you?
No you do not, so do not make silly comments that have no substance other than your opinion please.
I am aware that not all kids who do things like this come from shitty families, most times that could not be further from the truth, so yes a lot of kids could do things that their family would never think they would/could do.
I know my kids and as they are now 26 and 22 and have never ever given me any problems with regard to drink, or trouble with the police to my door, I think I can safely say they would never act in this way.
Unless of course you know different??
Please, for the love of whichever deity or football team you find holy, can you all learn to spell feral correctly?
*Nola twitches in the corner; as if the reactionary tone of the entire thread wasn't enough, the spelling errors were really tipping her over the edge...*
19 year old drunk pisses on flagpole.....who the fuck cares
