What are we listening to? New stuff? old? Lately i've been into this guy Ariel Pink, he records old 60s style pop songs on an 8 track, interesting.
Needed some toons for my car for when driving to & from Manc last night/this morning, so asked my man to put together a messy mix for me this is what he put to cd for me.
Candi Staton (Larse Vocal)
Adana Twins - Just peachy is this.
Leftfield nothing else can be said, they're ace.
Grace - Fabarooney toon
klf - TOTP'S sorta stuff.
Oakenfold set at it's best (dated but still excellent)
British Sea Power.. there first album "The Decline of British Sea Power"
In my opinion, the best indie rock band in the country.. and have been for some time.

Yeah, some solid stuff there Toots. Old school. Like it. ;) You in to your Progressive House at all? Here's a little playlist I put together just this very evening. Some stormingly good stuff with a real ecstatic, psychedelic edge to it, even if I do say it myself. Wrapped a great big euphoric grin round my chops anyways, had me bopping along and snapping the fingers out to 'em like a good 'un.
Shiftone - Our Shining Faces
Shiftone - Thai Spa (Schodt Remix)
Arthur Deep, Shiftone - Freedom (Soundprank 'Smashed Glass' Mix)
I'm loving everything I'm hearing by Shiftone right now. Wonderfully melodic, epically euphoric stuff. Just magnificent.
This is just filthy dirty. Properly erotically powerful vocal and energy. Seriously sexy stuff:
Andrew Chalov feat. Alexandra Krischtopa — Snowy Longing (Parallax Breakz Remix)
Flashtech - Granulated (Ilya Mosolov Remix)
Tuxedo - Pandemium (LoQuai Remix)
The build on this is immense:
Monojoke - Surreal Things (Parallax Breakz Remix)
Flashtech - Granulated (Ilya Mosolov Remix)
And just for the big finish, with what must be one of THE most insanely trippy basslines with the absolute biggest breaks ever put to disc:
Heatbeat - Rocker Monster (Original Mix)

Ey up Dino! Good to see you about the place fella. biggrin Still not got to see BSP yet. Can you believe that? Must try harder. Nearly made it for the Valhalla Dancehall tour ( IIRC? Sensational album BTW. Who's In Control: Best protest song this past decade and no mistake. ) but their timing's always pants. One day! ;)

Of course I confess to having a short attention span, but having listened to four bars and a fart for the first minute I kind of lost the will to live. Good enough for a party but not for listening pleasure.
We saw The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing at the Edinburgh Fringe. They're a Steampunk Metal band, so they play heavy rock about Victorian themes. They have a song about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and another about the fact there were four famous Stephensons/Stevensons in the Victorian era.

lol
I guess you need to have experienced the fists-in-the-air euphoria that goes with cutting some rug and throwing shapes to stuff like this first time round late 80s / early 90s to really appreciate it. I just get a mahoosive grin all over my face when I come across something either really old school I remember from back then, or something new that's the kind of quality dance music I'd have appreciated. It's all a bit Pavlov's dogs I guess, certain pathways seared forever into my brain. You're probably gonna absolutely hate this:
Errors - Pleasure Palaces
From 'Have Some Faith In Magic', latest album from sometime Mogwai collaborationists Errors and it's living up to expectations, doesn't disappoint. Errors just get better and better. This track my favourite so far, strongest on the album I think. Quality tune. Cracking vid too.
