In another thread, Katniss mentioned donating sleeping bags to rough sleepers. Which we'd never thought of either.
There are loads of appeals for money from various charities, but maybe it might be useful if people know of non financial stuff which certain charities would love, but maybe other people wouldn't think of.
So I'll start off. But, please phone the organisations beforehand to see if they need the donations !!!
If you are getting a new carpet and you have off cuts, or your old carpet is in good nick your local cat and dog shelter would love them cut to about 1m square. They'd also want old duvets and bedding.
Unused disinfectant such as domestos would be accepted by them also.
Just make sure you don't leave with a dog unless it's a fully considered and committed planned event !!!!!!

To be honest if you ever ask a Charity.....the best donation you can give is your time. They can always find you something to do....be it work in a shop for a few hours, or muck out the pooh from kennels or dishing out food to homeless etc....
Working within a charity like that, does give you a better perspective on life as well. I have in the past done a little time with "Shelter".....and you certainly go away thinking ..

I went to the RSPCA derby to get a dog for Sasha, fell in love with a quiet little Pattendale Terrier, but it was with a Springer Spaniel pup that it had adopted and couldn't be separated from so the RSPCA wouldn't let the Pattendale go alone
A year on they still can't be separated and never leave each others side lol
Every year I buy as many dog treats as I can, dog chocs, gravy biscuits, chewies, smachos etc on good years financially speaking I get some dog toys too and take them to the nearest rescue centre, I know the dogs won't starve so it is nice to give them some treats at Christmas
