Ahhhh good old woolies.
I agree with you varca. The niche filled by good old Woolies disappeared a long time ago.

The former Head of Stores and Concessions for Woolworths and 15 former colleagues are today opening their first 'copy cat' store under the name of Alworths and they plan to have another 22 stores opened within 12 months!

We've had one in town for a couple of months. Pick n Mix was available in WHSmith since the demise of Woolies anyway.
It was and still is a massive shame that the Woolies stores are no longer out there.
I miss them but I suppose just like with many famous names, they cannot go on losing money for ever, unless it is BA of course. lol
We used to have three Woolies here in Nottingham back in the 1950s, then we had none, then one opened up again and I'm not even sure it's still here! I tend to think that "Wilkinsons" have laregly filled the role that the old Woolies used to fill.
Plim
There is already one its called wellworths. Opened by a former shop employee in the same building the Woolworths was in. Its done very well you can read about it in these two links
