You've got to hand it to this guy. He is an incredible operator.
I still remember with some humour when he was 'summonsed' to appear before a Senate Committee in the States in the aftermath of the Iraq debacle.
They were warned not to engage him but being fearless yanks they did - and lived to regret it! He wiped the floor with them and outclassed them at every turn.
What I thought really cool was a reporter half suggesting to him this morning (whilst he was wearing dark glasses in a 'morning after the night before' type scenario) that he must have had a 'good' night to which he replied in his usual calm, quiet and collected way that he is teetotal, as was his father and his father before him and "God willing" his children will be after him.
Mr Speaker is going to find it very difficult not to 'catch his eye'.
Can't wait.
skilled lawyer and of course great speaker.
many dont like him but he may go down as one of the great speakers of our time.
when he speaks people listen. he has crossed borders and shook hands with people from all walks of life.
he knew that in bradford this was the way to win.
It is nice to see that sometimes people are able to see past the propaganda and misrepresentation of the renews my faith in my fellow man .... what next?? an honest assessment of John Prescott ... I wont hold my breath
A man with principles. One of the few MPs pubicly opposed to the war on Iraq, as I was at the time (unlike an awful lot of people who bang on about blair the warmonger of late) he was pilloried by his parliamentary colleagues and the press.
I wish we had more MPs like him and fewer mealy mouthed scum bags who are happy to keep their heads below the parapet when we need them to speak out.
Good on ya George.
I'll admit, Galloway is not someone I would support, or vote for, but I'd rather see him in politics and Westminster, than not.
I would find it hard to vote for anybody who made such a tit of themsleves on Big Brother but then again it shows some humanity I spose.
