A good friend of mine made me aware of the above issues recently in regards to the Forestry commision selling off sections of our natural heritage. Please have a good look at this site and put whatever support you can forward. It's another nail in the coffin for right and a backhander for all those who want fiscal wealth at all costs.
The Chase is a place of great natural beauty and should be kept that way for generations to come.
I am indeed a member of the facebook group in total opposition to the sell off...it is not just cannock Chase, but many other woodland areas. Please note though it is not the forestry commission that is doing this...it is the new government. The woodland is managed by the forestry commission..and they are totally oppossed to the sell off as well.
England's forest sell-off plan gets a partial rethink
Seems selling off forest may not be quite the money spinner we're told it will be.....

This is one government policy/idea that I do have a problem with.
My fear is for the future of our woodlands, we have precious too little as it stands, our woodland wildlife is is under pressure form the urban creep and intensive farming pressure.
Woodlands are under pressure from all angles, Many of our small woodlands were planted by hunt and hunting family's (Fox). If we loose fox hunting, many of these woodlands will be under a greater threat. One of my biggest fears is the mounting pressure continue's on gun-sports, there are hundreds of thousands of acres of woodland, that are there purely because of shooting sports, if the anti shooting powers have there way, and shooting sports stop or suffer, many of these areas of woodland will be lost to the plough. This is a big and real fear of mine.
Lost in the woods: The Tories' forest sell-off isn't all bad but pits them against an impassioned Middle England
