Major bimbo alert here: but fax machines have never ceased to amaze me. How does my handwriting on a bit of paper in my office get rung down a phone line and then come out on another bit of paper in another office entirely at the other end... and still in my handwriting ffs?!
That's proper stuff of sci-fi that is. confused
(Oh and the question above is rhetorical: clever techie folk I do not require an explanation into the workings of said fax machine. Don't shatter my illusions.... and I probably wouldn't understand you anyway! wink )
Teleportation (Matter Transmission)

Major nerd alert here Nola.
Places nerd hat on at a quirky angle.
Not a lot of people know this but the fax machine was invented years before the telephone.
Can I go on QI and replaice that curly haired bloke please.

Many years ago there was a TV program called UFO which had a car which had 'gull wing' type doors (looked a bit like the de-loreon car of the 80's). To open the doors there was a catch right at the very bottom of the car.
It seemed very high tech at the time, but looking back you think ........ why didn't they think of central locking confused: or was that deemed too far-fetched lol

Yep, a bit like that, I was hoping some-one would understand my description.
Pah, the cheek of it, a tv show using an idea that had been around for 15 years rolleyes must have been an example of re-cycling.
And in my defense re thinking the car looked hi-tech ........... I never knew about the mercedes 300 cos I wasn't born till 1956
