It's a topic that many hear of but few know little about. FaceBook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Filckr the list goes on. I'd be interested to read how many of you use social media to link with other swingers and how many don't know their tweets from their blogs. What do you use?
I have a twitter account but rarely use it and i have a facebook account which i do use but never for swinging, i only use here and a few other swingers websites.

being the old ca forum you will find most don't know their fact from their fiction :boxing:
I have facebook for friends and family only. I also had twitter, but found it completely pointless and have no interest in it.
I have Facebook for friends and family. I have some swinging friends on it. Not to discuss or arrange swinging activities, because they are friends.
I did have twitter but I just don't get it!
Most of the people I have on Facebook are people I know from here going back years. Those who for whatever reason don't post here so much anymore. Swinging retirees if you will. We even have a little group set up for swinging site refugees. lol
No swinging or any inappropriate adult content you couldn't have you mam see, just about keeping in touch. Arrange quite a bit of social stuff there for our little SH clique but that's as far as it goes. Can't speak for others, maybe I'm doing it wrong but there it is.
I don't do the Facebook/Twitter stuff - nor will I.
It's proven that most Employers now prior to selecting futures candidates for propsectives positions peruse " Social Media" sites !

Which is one of the reasons why I'm not daft enough to use my real name on there Paddy. Most unlikely they'd find me, but even if they did there's always the privacy settings. Not the tightest but would still give little away to anyone not on my friends list.
My workplace nor any future workplace can find me on FB as i am hidden from searches and thats something i regularily check, the only part they could see are the profile photos that i can't hide but they are all fine for anyone to see anyway smilein fact all my FB content is fine for anyone to see but i like it hidden so my life is private :)
I have heard of people being sacked due to posts made on social media sites.
Personally, I like to keep work and home very separate. I have none of my colleagues on my Facebook and via the privacy controls, all they would be able to see if they searched for me is my profile picture. I'm sure that they see enough of my ugly mug at work! lol

Unless the employer now or in the future is the MoD, Home Office (or any department of it, i.e police, Prison service, Border Agency etc), the NHS, The Foreign Office, SERCO, Virgin, BAE, Westlands or any of the other public or private entity that is allowed to check your social media regardless of your settings.
They can also check what you have done on ebay!

I know of one person sacked and one disciplined at Halloween for exactly this. They both called in saying they were too sick for a night shift. By the following lunchtime photo's had been posted showing them at a party for several thousand people at a venue just outside Exeter.
No one can find me on Facebook.
not having an account helps wink
i am not on facebook or twitter or another other of these sites.
only site i am on and use is one where i can post my fictional stories i write.
i decided after a experience to scale back my online activities and that also included sites like this one.
still haunted a little by what happened but slowly getting back into things.
In the past I used Facebook a lot, now I rarely do as it has gone from a social networking site to a business directory, most of the members are now companies plying thier wares, my own business site plagues me to log in via Facebook, when you join a new site they plague you to use them through facebook, twitter and all the rest, I object to businesses taking over social networking sites which were never intended for that purpose.

Trev,
Surely they ere sacked for failing to turn in for work and deceiving the company.
The use of a social media site was of little consequence and it was their own stupidity at fault?
The one I heard about was regarding a status they had posted saying they'd had a shit day and slagging off their manager. The manager wasn't on Facebook but other colleagues were.
Bit silly to think it wouldn't get back to the manager really!
Yes they were stevie, however they were only caught out because they posted the photo's.

Well thankfully i don't work for any of them nor am i likely too lol
Checking what i've done on ebay will be pointless for them too as i don't use it, never have and probably never will !
However i don't have anything to hide anyway, i don't do anything illegal nor anything that would impact on my job in anyway let alone in a bad way smile
While at work we aren't allowed to log into FB via the works computers either during our working day or our unpaid breaks however many staff use their phones during their breaks to check FB, generally i just my 30 mins to eat a sandwhich and chill untill i go back into the fray lol
