a little out of date
but i doubt there's been another report commissioned since

still..... makes a little more sence than most of the dribble being spouted flipa

I'm sure it does ....
I know what Star is saying though, it definitely feels like today's children have a much lower set of morals than they did when I was younger, there feels to be less respect from children for elders. Also parents talking to their children in a manner mine would not have dreamed of.
Whether this is real or perceived I don't know, I can remember my grandmother saying a similar thing

no blue dont dare even suggest that.
this is the most amazing site i am currently on for peeple who walk around with blindfolds on. it amazes me also that some fail to see what others find so obvius and when some peeple are confronted with facts they start the dummy throwing routine.
the logical peeple amongst us know the truth. still i am sure back in the 50's or 60's that younsters were being shot dead by other youngsters with great regularity.
this is only from 2008 fgs and still some peeple refuse to take the blindfold off and confront the truth.

still these are probably the fault of those nasty police men as well. loon

My mothers cousin was mugged in 1951 by a shifty looking bloke in a black fedora and spats using a webley service revolver.
My mother was jumped on in the blackout by a fella in a wig with a glass eye.
My father used to keep a selection of sharpened coins in his pockets at the weekend to defend himself from street fights.

Why did the wig require this glass eye??? lol
Hahaha! now that has brightened my day!

Facts are facts, no matter what you beleive. No one is denying the truth about the present state of society. i think we need to put some rationale into others blinkered extreme views.
I would like to add, it will more than likely get worse still, as more people are forced in to poverty.
What would be interesting is to consider how this should be resolved, other than "beating the crap out of them" that is not disciplinging a child, that is GBH. Monkey see, monkey do!

OK
Some things have got worse in recent years it would seam
The new figures indicate that in the year 2007-8 there were some 277 deaths from stabbings in England & Wales alone (the highest recorded figure for 30 years). This represents an average death toll as a direct result of stabbings of over 5 for every week of the year!

Knife Crime Increases in London (Metropolitan Police)
Knife crime has increased by 3.9% in London so far this financial year to date according to figures published on the Metropolitan Police website. Between April and November 2010 there were 8,609 knife enabled crimes recorded across city, 321 more than the same period last year when there were 8,288 knife enabled offences.
Numerically, the boroughs seeing the highest increases were Lewisham (+82), Westminster (+66), Lambeth (+62), Enfield and Greenwich (both +39). Despite the increases each area has seen a reduced number of reports regarding youth gang violence in 2010. Each borough, with the exception of Westminster, has also however seen increases this financial year to date in the number of homicide offences.
The number of knife enabled offences detected by police in London has increased slightly to 25.4% in 2010/11 or approximately 1 in 4 offences. The detection rate varies considerably by borough, for example in Lambeth (17.5%) and Waltham Forest (17.7%) police solve less than one in five knife enabled offences. In Greenwich and Haringey boroughs police detect over a third of knife enabled offences.
Since 2008 a nine boroughs have seen consecutive increases in the number of knife enabled crimes, they are as follows:
- Barking & Dagenham
- Camden
- Enfield
- Havering
- Lambeth
- Merton
- Newham
- Southwark
- Waltham Forest
In contrast, several boroughs in London have also seen consecutive yearly decreases in the number of knife enabled crimes since 2008, they are as follows:
- Bromley
- Croydon
- Haringey
- Islington
- Kensington & Chelsea
- Kingston upon Thames
- Sutton
Residents living in Southwark are the most at risk of knife crime, here 311.2 offences per 100,000 residents were recorded throughout 2009/10 (click here). This was almost two times greater than the London average of 163.0 knife enabled crimes per 100,000 population and six times higher than the safest borough Richmond upon Thames which had a rate of 52.3.
Rank of Boroughs with highest rates of knife enabled crime April 2009 to March 2010

Police recorded more than 26,000 serious knife attacks in the financial year to March 2009, an increase of six per cent on the previous year's total.
I'm a london bus driver.
When I get young people 14-25ish on my bus who don't want to pay, I tell them they must pay or get off the bus.
99.9% of the time I am met by a volley of abuse and threats and they ask me to get out of the cab and fight them.
IMO, the youth's I have contact with everyday are horrible, violent and downright rude.
This court ruling won't help.
"you can't nick me for swearing pig, it's not ilegal".
A truly truly bad judgement IMO.

Agree with you there.
I'm a huge fan of the police, overall they do a brilliant job for not alot of money under very very difficult circumstances.
What a difference when I watch cops, even gun toting criminals call police officers in the usa 'sir'.
Alot depends on where in the UK you live, my mum lives in a small village in hampshire, and when I spoke to the locals about this years riots, they were truly shocked, I, however was not.

No-one's suggesting shame Blue .... but I am tired by these constant veiled references to some possible other poster (and Rob is not the worst culprit)which allow that/those users no right of reply .... if anyone wishes to accuse me (or anyone else ) of something, then do it don't hide behind the vague deniable comment (and yes I know I've done it too and recently)
