..... you first met up in an impromptu, pub based type social situation with people you only 'knew' from swinging sites. Did you have the 'Hello, I'm Jackie' and then the almost nudge nudge wink wink thing and whispered 'I'm Qbu'? lol

My first ever was with the leg end that is Harry Jones in a Sheffield pub, as he was on one of his tours (I doubt he'll mind me mentioning it - apologies if so Harry), but his was easy peasy. a) His name is Harry and b) he was wearing the legendary flat cap :lol: Others who were there were in the same situation as me and did the whispered site name thing. It was hilarious. I could name them but won't for obvious reasons :-)

Not sure if I can remember the first time blink

I do remember lots of Wigan Munch pre-drinkies at the small-ish bar area of a certain hotel/restaurant which have involved lots of "Hi. I'm ******" and getting blank looks, so having to say "y'know, Nola?" And then getting the "Ahhhh, yes!" of recognition.
I always wonder what folk at the next table must think! :giggle:
Oooh, and I do remember meeting St3v3 for the first time. When we were introduced he looked at my chest and then went something like "Oh, yeah, I see it now!" silly

I always used to introduce myself as Blue. I never really got the hang of the real names thing.
I still struggle. I still think "username" in my head, then have to convert it to "real name". It's like a strange sort of bilingual experience :lol2:
It's even more confusing when someone's username IS their real name, as I continue to think, "I still don't know that's person's real, REAL name" blink

I did used to do this (with other people, not myself), but since coming back to the forum I've had to make a concerted effort to think about usernames because I'm so used to using real names now - but I do still answer to Angel, to the point that if someone says it, I turn to look (as you would if someone shouted your name in a supermarket or whatever)
I'm so tired, I have no idea if that waffle even makes sense!!

Longer term friends that I have as my Facebook friends I struggle to remember their usernames on this and other forums at times. Some newer forum friends that are now on my facebook I really struggle to match up to a) the forum I know them from and b) user/real name status. This is not helped by the fact I am an active member on numerous dog rescue forums and have countrywide contacts there as well as from swinging circles lol

To answer the question properly, people I've met several times become known by their real names, but exchanging forum names isn't foreign or strange to me. I've met many a dog rescue forumite on a transport run and greeted them with a "hi I'm xxxx you must be yyyy"

With you, I think I'm in a state of conversion :giggle:
When I speak to you and others on FB, who I speak to most days, it's not that I'm sitting on FB, doing constant name conversions in my head. The problem would be when mentioning someone in conversation. With you I generally call you Angel ... and that comes out all as one word :crazy: . I do that with umpteen other people too :notes:

~Having the name Lost makes it easier for us I guess as we walk into a group of people and say "We're Lost can you help" and we've never walked into the wrong group of people...so far!

Usernames on here can cause all sorts of confusion. I always laugh about an early north west munch when I was trying to find Easy. Imagine... Going round all the blokes at a munch asking if they were him - and every single one of them replied with "yes I am :rascal:, who are you?"

We have a few friends with the same first name as you so normally refer to you as AC (real name)

To be fair angel....I know you real name, but I always think of you as angel....probably because I got introduced to use as angel......
Though I do call you devil chat.....
It's odd, some people I associate with there forum name, some with real name....it just depend how I associate name to person. Also I have my own nicknames
Like blues know her real name but tome she is blue.....so I always will call her blue
Like some of my mates call me mike, some Curtis, or some cockney(perv) depending on how they met me.....
I tend to answer to cockney the quickest then mike, then Curtis then my full name.

Sat in pubs at pre munch drinkies type events, and wondered if they 'were' or 'weren't' part of the pre drinkies! lol

Once sat th ere wondering where everyone was, the table next to me, ask if I was going out that night any where interesting, so I stated in general terms the name of the venue, to which they laughed and said so were they going to the same place........... :lol:

Going to my first ever social... Eagerslut held my hand... it was in Glasgow and the first people we spoke to turned out to be my parent's postman. He knew my dog. Mortified didn't even cover it! redface

With the names thing there are some people I still call by their username... I saw Nola recently and it didn't occur to me not to call her Nola. Blue is the same, as is Jas. I just never remember to change and I'm sure I called Jas out loud in the pub when I was down last. Widey will always be Widey or real name... never essexm34. Bloke will always be Bloke and Celery will always be Celery. Nellie was always Nellie and Sass is always Sass. Funny cause equally there are some people who I always call by their real names and I'm not sure why that is. Sometimes I switch and if I'm talking about someone I'll use their username but if I'm talking to them I'd use their real name.
And now I can't remember the question. :bounce:

Most people tend to call me Dlep or Dollop rolleyes

A few know my real name, but still call me Dollop. Even fewer call my by my real name :roll:

Can't remember a time specifically although when Easy & PK came to see us one year Easy called me Callie in front of the kids, and it stuck for a while :giggle:
Most people we keep in touch with are on FB and so I tend to call them by their first names now, although often have to clarify who I'm talking about with a nickname if I'm talking to Morbius!

Oh my god - My first social was a personal nightmare, I remamber getting to the place, sitting in the car for about 10 minutes thinkings "shall I - Shant I" then plucking up the courage to go inside thinking they are all human , they are not going to eat you alive !!!! redface

Then I got into the bar and I just stood there frozen, like the preverbial rabbit in the headlights, it felt like time had stood still.
Then Staggy came over introduced himself and I guess as they say the rest is history.
But oh my god - Sh*t scared or what !!! - I am afterall an naturally shy retiring person

The first time I met everyone (I think I'd only met one or two forumites in person before this) was at the very first NW Munch. I wasn't even on the list, and I took a non site member in with me. This was the days before Munch rules rotflmao

I was only passing on the way to a club, and stayed about an hour. I was hedging my bets really, as at that time, I hadn't decided if you lot were for me... I just came to check out how many of you I wanted to shag.
I stayed, so that maybe tells its own story :grin:

The first time we met up with someone in a social context as described by the OP was a little weird. We had left our mic on when we were in the chatroom and it was really boring, so we started chatting to each other about going down the pub for a bit.
Anyway, half an hour after we get to one of the two pubs we had mentioned in walks a guy, who's username escapes me so lets call him Darthvader (Hopefully there isn't one on here!). He walked up to us at the bar and said "Hi Trev and Mrs T, I'm Darthvader!"
It was a bit weird and stalky at first, but he litterally lived 100 yards from the pub and had been trying to catch us online for a while.
And before anyone wonders, Yes it was a good night.
