Agreed, but like I tell my children, stick and stones....
I have no problem with my sense of proportion...I have a problem with anyone trying to limit the right of me and my fellow country men to protest...I am perfectly au fait with the horrendous treatment dealt out to women the world over under the guise of sharia law..I have a problem with this suddenly becoming the reason for our prescence in Afghanistan if this is the case why are we not invading Iran,Saudi,Palestine,or any number of other muslim states?
I am no supporter of this march BUT I struggle with the idea of banning anything because it offends the sensibilities of some people,I'm not offended by it, but dissapointed that rather than try to put (a valid in my opinion)point of view across in a reasoned manner the organisers have opted for cheap the less the right to protest should not be limited by the views of the protesters.
As I implied earlier if our forces are fighting for freedom then using them as an excuse to limit freedom at home is if nothing else the height of hypocrisy.
What a lovely debate thank you.
I dont think the march in wooton basset is a brilliant idea and I dont think a counter march would be terribly productive.
I do think that proposing such a march has worked to some extent in raising awareness of the number of non combatant victims, but on the downside we have seen an anti march frenzy that plays into the hands of the anti moslem agitators.
I just don't want to see extermist wankers petrol bombing each other when the rest of us, the vast majority,, who believe in free speech and the right to peaceful protest, look on. The awareness has been raised, let us not use this as an excuse to further curtail protest or incite hate or give the media food for furthering their agendas.
As I thought.... a publicity stunt and nothing else!
I heard plenty of gossip from a Swindon Town fan I know who was there on the day. It seems there was a few coaches heading towards Wootton Basset from London full of Islam4UK members and supporters, my mate was with the EDL crowd most of whom were by then starting to gather in the pubs in around the town. The coaches were not allowed to enter the town and Choudrey himself was taken away by police, don't know if they actually arrested him. Everything was over and done with when a fairly large group of National Front turned up.
I'm glad I wasn't there, but indifferent as to whether I am glad they stopped the coaches. My anger towards those fanatics at their plan to march through that town hasn't disipated just because they were stopped. On the other hand it would have been a bloodbath and Choudrey would be able to play the victim card.
The police have also stated that Islam4UK had not applied to march, and you have to square these things with them. For a march you have to agree every bit of the route and everything. So it really was a publicity stunt!
Lets be fair Brighton it was NEVER going to go ahead...the public outcry over this was exactly the same public outcry, that meant the likes of Myra Hindly would never be released.
On occasion the public voice is listened too.
It also looks like this group will be banned under the terrorism act.
Can you just imagine what would happen in the USA IF something similar was talked about happening say outside of where the twin towers were?
The Americans would have acted straight away and not like our politicians, and remained silent for fear of upsetting anyone.
On this occasion whilst I agree with free speech, this was only ever intended to cause offence. The mere thought of this guy sending out letters to the families of lost loved ones, shows how evil they are.
The day they are banned is a serious step in the right direction....now all they have to do is find him a job......( somewhere other than the uk ).
WB kent... missed ya!
It just goes on and on..
Now, as I understand it, the Guardian haven't fully reported this trial. It has emerged that the five defendants refused to stand in Court for the judge, amongst other things, and showed total disrespect for the British judicial system.
Let you or me try to pull such a stunt and see where it gets you! A few nights at Her Majesty's pleasure in the cells no doubt for Contempt of Court to focus one's attention without any doubt!
But why are these idiots allowed to get away with it? WTF is going on and why hasn't Jack (man of) Straw sacked the Judge?
If Nick Griffin makes any ground at the next election, you can blame it on weak livered Labour pandering to Muslim extreme influence.
"None as blind as those that don't want to see ".
A famous saying.
I have searched and searched and can find no source to verify Gaunt's allegations. But then that is the problem with unsubstantiated media allegations, there doesn't need to be any evidence, the gullible and like minded pick it up and run with it and the libelled have no right to reply or recourse other than a legal system they cant afford.
I love the way that everytime something like this is discussed some p•••k starts going on about Nazis, even more so when the words "right wing" are added to the mix. Sorry to disapoint, but the Nazis were socialists with policies that were much more left wing than right. They would have been even more left wing too had it not been for the night of the long knives. Ernst Rohm, Greggor and Otto Strasser were big players before then, Rohm and one of the Strassers was killed that night, with the other Strasser legging it.
I don't do Wikki links, just remember this from way back. I think ER and at least one of the Srassers were gay too.
How would you guys cope without my amazingly relevant historical facts, huh? Lol
Blair certainly is gulity of some of those things.
The inquiry going on at the moment will as usual be a white wash, as we all know Blair sucked up to Bush...there were no WMD.
So with the ammount of people that have died...Blair has many things to answer for.
