I would just like to point out to you that no matter how much money you have, you can't buy Class. The comedy continues....
Last night showed the true standing of the two Manchester Clubs:
One, celebrating another league tiitle and with a mechanism in place to continue stability and longevity.
The other, completely in disarray and embarrassment after losing the FA Cup to a team that cost about 1/50 of what the City team cost and once again without a Manager after the worst kept secret in English football.
For once I'm in total agreement with you on a football related topic, although it remains to be seen as to whether David Moyes can sustain Sir Alex's success and therefore continued stability within the club.

One of my favorite quotes.

That did not happen last year though did it? Oh and stability does not always guarantee success, as Chelsea and Real Madrid will prove. Both these clubs have succeeded hugely by changing managers at the drop of a hat. The other clubs that have kept faith in their managers in the Premier league are David Moyes of Everton ( who actually has won nothing ) and Arsen Wenger of Arsenal who has had no trophies for now 8 years. Stabilty is not the be all and end all of success.

One of the greatest teams in modern history of football being Leeds United in their great days of the 70's lost in an FA cup final to Chelsea who were not given a chance at the time. There have also been many other upsets where the little team defies the odds. It happens...it will continue to happen, just sometimes players just do not bond as a team but it is the manager that pays the ultimate price.
Also remember the FA CUP FINAL, MAY 1976......Shocks happen.
David Moyes is on a hiding to nothing, and those players will not have the respect that they had for Fergie which WILL make a difference.
But as an aside I wish Chelsea good luck in the Europa cup final tomorrow.

I'm not sure who it was that didn't give Chelsea a chance. They had a great side and it was a replay after a 2-2 draw at Wembley. Admittedly they had to get Chopper Harris to cripple Eddie Gray after his roasting of Webb in the first match. A much bigger shock was Sunderland's win against Leeds in 1973.

with them wise words in place they still manage to inflict one of utd's biggest ever defeats 6-1 iirc and im pretty sure they gave a lesson in class that day wink
as for a mechanism in place? moyes will have to deliver and keep the squad in place (rooney on his way in the summer), last 16 of the champions league if their lucky. should the special one return to Chelsea its doubtful the utd would retain the premiership trophy
and I'm not a supporter of any of the above lol

Most of the media at the time Max. Chelsea were nowhere near the class of Leeds Utd in 1970 Max, but I take on board your comment with regards to the Sunderland game.

Cripple Eddie Gray? What Ron Harris? Never. wink
well....all depends...I do feel slightly sorry for Mancini..as he has brought success to a club that had previously been starved. However the owners quite rightly have stated that at the start of the season the management and the owners agreed targets.
1...to retain the premier league title
They have finished in reality a very poor second
2...to get to the quarter finals of the champions league
They never even got out of the group stages
3...to win either the league or FA cup
They won neither.
The owners never failed to finance transfers. I guess like in any job, if you fail to achieve the agreed targets and goals you can expect to pay the price.
Now quite rightly you talk about the stability of Manchester United. Alex Ferguson was 7 seasons before he brought any silverware to the table. However these are different times. You not going to tell me that they will allow David Moyes to have that length of time to settle in.....I think not.
I am not saying it is correct, but the fact remains, these owners spend a lot of money and they expect some return. The managers know the score, when they take on the position. I do think next season will be very interesting as 3 of the top 4 sides will have new managers !!!

Leeds finished second that year with 55 points and Chelsea were third with 53 points. Couldn't have been that large a difference in class.

My prediction is that next year Man Utd will be a very difficult team to beat. Moyes will not need time because he has all the ingredients that SAF did not have and he does not tolerate defensive slackness. It will not surprise me at all if they concede record low goals against next season.
I think they will get rid of Rooney, replace him with Zaha who is due back anyway and just buy one world class midfielder.
