When I joined a few years ago now, I never knew what to expect I remember first entering the chat rooms that were very different than they are now. I remember wondering where I have entering it seemed like a whole different world. The first time I spoke in the chat room I remember saying "Hello all, can you all go easy on me I am a newbie and don't have a clue what goes on here." To my horror all these responses came back asking me if I wanted them to show me. I remember shaking so much I closed everything down. It soon taught me to be careful what I asked for. Can you remember your first impressions when you first joined here?
We both had single profiles before we got a couples one. When we first went into the chat rooms as a "couple" we got the feeling that certain people (sure you know the type) thought "fresh meat!" as we had been members for a couple of hours, no views, no friends and no idea. Thankfully, we were a little less green than most. We actually had quite a laugh, we set up 3 computers and logged on one as a couple and the other 2 with our single profiles, then kept rotating the camera between the 3 (simple things please simple minds) so if a guy messaged V with "hi we are close, want to meet?" I would reply from my male (bi male at that) "hi she is busy but I can meet you!" Suppose that was against the rules but it was 3 years ago now and we were kinda newbies.
Totally different place when we joined to what it is now. There were Munches going on all over the country, people travelled from one end of the country to another making friendships and relationships. The forums were so alive you couldn't keep up with all the threads! As you say though minx, the chatroom was so much different. not one for the feint hearted. nostalgia is a wonderful thing....
I remember thinking WTF I was a lot gobbier then than I am now, i tend to sit in the corner with my jaffa cakes and chip into chat when i feel like speaking ;)
There were some nice people about in the day - a very mixed bunch but the heart seems to have been ripped out of the forums now and mostly get ignored in chat
Well having been here now for 11 years !!!! And yes was different place. I remember being told of the site by a friend, and until I came here, I thought swinging was just couples meeting and throwing the keys into the bowl !!! I saw this place and thought WOW !! that first night I must have replied to about 200 ads !! All over the country from Scotland to Wales to Cornwall !! I just thought everyone was gagging for it. My mail read " Hello I'm Dean fancy a shag !! " ...Surprise Surprise I didn't get a single reply. lol....So thought best re-evaluate this !! I stuck around and used the forums a lot. The chat in those days was just one big room, and so couldn't get my head round it. But made some great friends in the forums, and we had some great meet ups and laughs. When the chat rooms changed, we used to have a Mids Room, and in its day, it was brilliant. I used to rush home from work and turn on computer as quick as possible. The banter we used to have in there was great. I made ,loads of friends ( most of which are now still friends but on facebook ) and we had loads of meet ups, socials, and such like. As I say its a different place now, and I must admit I don't frequent here as often as I used to. I'm not saying its better or worse now, but for me, some of the fun has gone. Times move on, that's just the way. Whatever happens I am very grateful for the good times I have had and good friends I have made via this site.
We've been here for over ten years and like the rest of the replies above we have noticed a massive change in the way the site is today. Our first impression of the site was that it was a scam, and that surely people didn't just shag other people they had only met online, did they? Well apparently it wasn't a scam and people did get together for NSA sex We never thought anyne would be interested in meeting with us, so it was a while before we put any pics up, but once we did things cganged dramatically. The chatroom was a whole new experience and we sat in the corner watching what was going on and seldom chirping up. However the south east room was always lively and we soon became regulars. The forums, well they were so lively that it was hard to keep up! Great days. We don't get the same experience these days, and rarely bother going on cam. It's a shame that whispers are so prevalent and that few people use the open room to chat. It's put us off a lot. Oh how we wish we could return to the old days.
I have been here for approx 9 years, i was here first as a single fem although now as a couple and a fem . I have to admit that when i think about it then and now, it's not much different now than it was then :)
Been here a while (before this account started) First impressions? To expect the unexpected, it still works every day I am here. In regards to previous comments made, for me I never look back, I dont find myself looking back at Halcyon days gone by or lamenting what once once, I take this site however it comes a day at a time, if it's not busy I'll chat to me'sen, if it's busy I'll still chat to me'sen. Adapt, adjust move along and enjoy.
Every day different as life, country, scene, etc. all change Remember initial nerves, especially with the old chat system, plus some lively and thought provoking Forum threads
All the action was in the forum when I joined. I lurked for a bit to get some feel for the place, then jumped in with a post (if I remember correctly) challenging Blue to "do your worst". Anyone who remembers Blue will understand how that went... Fun times. Does anyone remember the alternative chat room? I think there were only about three of us who ever used it. It's very different now. Still good, just in a different way. Things change. Glad to see you're still around, Minxy.
loved it 2000 peps over 3 servers in chat forums was a place of fun and mischief but to be fair i learnt a lot out of the forum Nil was an awesome fella in the forums as was staggers and a good match for any foe some where just wums even some that seemed harmless at the time. i became good pals with the likes of gnv and even had time for ol kenty who really was harmless, he attracted some good opposition at times others battled their corners regardless and did this to the end chat was a great place to be on a Fri, sat or Sunday, the banter was ruthless but all in good taste stupid whispers could be exposed in open chat and became a real weapon to single fems who didn't want the unwanted attention even woo hoo who called the bdsm room scary people every time he came in to check socials where events not to be missed and if you did you had to read all about it in the forums or listen to the events relived in chat, IMO it was a far better place than it is today
My first impression was that I'd finally found somewhere I could be myself, and showed me that I wasn't the only person in the world who wanted to have sex with other people without being labelled a cheat. It was like coming home. :thumbup: Back then chat didn't have cams (too much bandwidth for most dial-up accounts) so the forum had more support. It also had a younger populous (the Internet was mostly for the younger tech-savvy), but the "old guard" have all aged now, and either left, or succumbed to grumpy old git syndrome. :grin: People nowadays have a stronger need for instant gratification, which explains the popularity 'swing' to chat and it's enticing cams, and IMHO why so many complain about time wasters. Back in the day most established swingers had experienced arranging meets by post through contact mags, much like finding pen pals. Having somewhere like SH was a whole new world, letting them actually get to know people before, or without ever, meeting them. New members now don't have that experience so their approach is very different. They expect quick meets and are disappointed when they find it's not that simple. That said, I'm not one for harking back to the good old days, so I try to go with the flow and take what I can from it. One thing I am thankful to SH for is that it's proved the solidity of my marriage. My previous long term relationship failed after I dared to suggest bringing another woman to our bed, so admitting to Theia that I'd joined a swinging site was a seminal point in our relationship. It made us talk about the elephant in the room, and made us realise that we shared the same perspective on sex vs. relationships. Long live SH! :bounce:

I soon discovered that men wanked on cam ... Well, that was me hooked!! I was a chatroom addict and was often chatting while I should have been working! I then found the forum too ... Bonus!! People would ask us to go to socials and munches and our response went something like this: "we're not here to make friends, we're here to shag random strangers" Eventually we did go to socials and met so many people that we are lucky enough to call our friends. Although we've been away for a while, and now returned to swinging (at a much slower pace) those friends have remained throughout. So first impressions were very different to how we feel now!

We never thought anyne would be interested in meeting with us, so it was a while before we put any pics up, but once we did things cganged dramatically.
