I look at our parliament and those in it, and I see a group of people with whom the only thing I have in common is language.I look at our neighbours in Europe (mainly northern Europe) and I see more equal societies,I see societies where the common man appears to have a voice that is heard, where government appears to be for the benefit of all in that country ... bring on a federal Europe I say,the sooner the better

I find I have things in common with many in Parliament, here is one for instance;
David Cameron, describing himself as a ' country boy' who grew up fishing and shooting rabbits.

Have you been round to number 10 for tea yet?
Nothing so exciting in my linage that can find as yet. It would seam my linage originates from France, as the family name arrived on these shores in 1066 with the Normans.
This fellow was my 2x great uncle though;

Save me looking it up Ben, what is a fluffer? Not the same as we might see in the porn industry I presume

Hey Blue, my family surname originates from France and could well have arrived on these shores via the Normans or the Heugenots..maybe we have some common ancestry?
BTW, I love your ancestor's mother's name...Repentance Coward, quite lovely!

Do we want europe to regulate our City?
I am no expert, But I think not

problem is Europe is still going to impose the tax levy.....its just that we won't be part of the decision process now. In reality we are inbetween a rock and a hard place. We don't want to agree to it, but equally by standing aside we are letting them do it anyway....just without us !!
Tends to feel like we are Man Utd of the EU. We have crashed out of the main event, where we rightly belong....and now have to compete in a lower level. And like man Utd..in reality it is of our own doing.
Begs the question really.....as we are now on the sidelines....would we actually be better totally out of it. EU contries at the top table..and we at the small table with our new friends Hungary !!!
I'm sure that tax levy can't now be implemented in the UK due to the fact we vetoed the treaty it can still be levied on British companies registered and trading in European tax havens.
so maybe Cameron is edging his bets to attract financial companies flooding to the UK and paying onto the UK tax system
if this latest project by the mad maid of germay and the her french fancy fails like every other one of their hair brained ideas ,its gonna fail in a big way taking all those who wanted to be one of the gang with it
i for one think Brussels have more than enough control over what we eat, fish and spend already without adding to our already overburdened tax system in order to bail out their own failings
This is the levy I'm talking about....and I do believe it will be just the start of the back lash against us...We can't exactly vote against the rule .. we don't have a vote !!
"The new group’s creation prompted warnings that a eurozone “caucus” would use its voting power to impose rules to Britain’s detriment.
Tories fear an enhanced euro group could try to impose a financial transactions tax on Britain. The Government estimates that the tax could cost the country £26?billion a year. "

thats because 40% of the worlds currency exchange is delt with in london compared to only 4% in paris
the french have spent the last 10 years trying to tempt these institutions to france with absolutely no success's so now they want to impose their own taxes regardless for a slice of the pie
i doubt very much if the government will take this lying down considering the city makes up 10% of our gdp
and is worth in the region of 130billion
i dunno but would you rather the europeans just take what we got while we roll over or a least put up a fight for it
there are a few things in the way of french and the germans and if Cameron plays his cards right then the germans and french would back away very quickly from trying to hijack our financial industry wink
26 billion is nothing compared with what we could have lost if we had signed the treaty
the french Pm's arrogance and greed could well be his down fall
tell me as the euro crisis gets bigger do you think germany and france can save it
i very much doubt it with the end result being the collapse and break up of the eu with china probably owning most if not all of europe

Europe already has a federal state - it's called the European Commission which is populated by unelected, unaccountable people.
Now we both know that's not what I meant, and that if what you describe is a federal Europe then the existence of unelected council officials makes Sheffield a federal city.
You sometimes need to be careful about what you wish for Staggs. Your political view points are legendary in these forums.
What I hope for is a federal Europe along the lines of the U.S.A., only I hasten to add in it's political machinery.....
My reason ?? .. as far as I can see, for the last 30 years the only thing that has prevented successive governments from running roughshod over the rights of the common man in this country has been the E.U. and it's human rights and employment legislation .... gets my vote any day of the week
You might wish to consider the Federal Soviet State rather than the Federal European one wink
At least they hold elections in the Federal Soviet States (albeit corrupt, allegedly) but you can't vote to elect people of the Sovereign European States to the obesely corrupt European Commission.

I have searched in vain for this SOVIET federation G perhaps you mean the RUSSIAN federation, you may find these links useful

your post above is making you out to be a victim and you have been such a goody goody and never been offensive or been involved in childish behaviuor on here. reely i think we all know that not to be true.
how about me ignoring your coments and threds on here and you doing the same? we clash and i do not like what you post or how you post it. your comenst about me are exactly how you also behave on here and you say about delusion.
i have spent many a constructive moment debating with you but on many occasions you revert to offensive mode, with the cunt word being used on occasion to get a point across.
i beleeve that you reely cannot see what you post and the reesons why you post, but i beleeve you are a lot smarter than that.

Star,
we'd suggest that you re-read
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopicpage/402051/40.html
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship.
The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.
In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel, slander, obscenity, incitement to commit a crime, etc.
The right to freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
Article 19 of the ICCPR states that "everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice".
Article 19 goes on to say that the exercise of these rights carries "special duties and responsibilities" and may "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "for respect of the rights or reputation of others" or "for the protection of national security or of public order (order public), or of public health or morals"
In respect of Swinging Heaven, all entering the Chat Rooms (by the act of doing so) confirm that they have "...read, understood and agree to abide by the Chat Room T & C's and the site AUP". So fit's within is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel, slander, obscenity, incitement to commit a crime, etc in paragraph 3 above
In particular in http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/chatroom/user-rules.html

Whilst I've yet to meet you, having actually met, chatted/debated and shared a drink with Staggers (as well as Ben_Minx, yes they are two different people from different backgrounds and parts of the country since you seem to be confusing them), I'm finding your tirades rather boring, pointless, dogmatic, ill-concieved and frankly offensive of late - rather like your rant the other month in The Pool chatroom against some one who said that they voted Tory, which we understand was reported also.
All for healthy, intelligent and informed debate within acceptable boundaries, the idea is to know the accepted boundaries and refrain from abuse.

that is something that i cannot remember hapening at all in any room on chat. as far as i am aware you have got that bit wrong as we tend to browse the chat rooms without saying very much. not asking for evidence of that but if you can look at that again to double check that was nether of us having a rant as you put in in the pool chat room.

Freedom of speech and the internet do not work together at all. All of it is owned by somone and they can moderate it as they see fit. So there is less freedom of speech on the internet than there is just about anywhere else.
