Reporting live from a pundits armchair.
Time for the footie, with the season well under way I think this is due.
Walk away now if you don't like footie, no negative football comments needed we know some like it and some hate it.
So for the Premier League title, my money, if I gambled and if I could bring myself to bet on them has to be Manchester City with Arsenal and Chelsea chasing them for 2nd and 3rd places, I don't think it unreasonable for Everton and Tottenham to take the other 2 champions league places though Liverpool could surprise me.
Manchester United, well certainly down and out this season and we all know why ......
Change of manager to United hit them harder than it would any other club I believe, a team that lost a lot of the self belief that got them through the tight spots and a renewed sense of opportunity for their competitors on the pitch, losing their two main strikers for so many matches has not helped but the biggest factor has to be the failure of both Sir Alex and David to secure the right transfers BEFORE the transfer market opened, Sir Alex always knew who he was going for, how much he would have to pay and how much he would pay long before the market opened, he should have set that in motion before stepping down, Moyes should have looked at that as soon as he secured the job, instead it was an embarrassing and expensive last minute grab at whoever he could get.
Now they are trying to put that right with the seemingly imminent purchase of Mata from Chelsea, can he save United season and get them somewhere in the European cups, probably, not just because he is a skilled player and excellent playmaker but also because it might just raise the spirit of the team and bring back their self belief, if it is coupled with the return of Rooney or Van Persie then the chances that happening could just do the trick.
Nice to see Arsene Wenger doing well with his Wenga boys, I have long thought he had taken the club as far as he personally could, but perhaps, just maybe he has a little more in him, and probably is feeling that without Sir Alex, this is his chance, let's face it Sir Alex's greatest ability was that of winding up the other managers sometimes making them make silly mistakes in line up and tactics and his ability to have all the refs on their guard when it came to penalties, fouls and the stopwatch when refereeing United matches, all good tactics for a manager I thought, it might not have won him any popularity away from Old Trafford but it often worked in Uniteds favour and that is what a manager is paid to do.
moyes just isn't good enough jed end of
the singing utd fans have gone very quiet these past few months, with the signing of mata utd now have 3 world class players (not enough)with two injured.
matas move is about desperation to play before the world cup, had this not been imminent i doubt that mata would have signed for utd, with little prospect of champions league football next year and likely that Europa league may also be out of reach.
all this will make it hard to attract big name stars next transfer window?
those that said everything was in place for a seamless takeover when moyes joined must be choking on them words now lol
things are that bad at m-old traford that fans have resorted to phoning 999 and asking for the return of fergie
rotflmao
im afraid the work fergie put in to making utd a world class outfit has been undone in 6 months by a complete moron, who's only record is to not have won a single trophy in his years as a premiership manager
on a lighter note its looking more and more like i was right with my predictions
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopicpage/416415/20.html
Jose has made the premiership a interesting place again his sense of humour and charismatic charm has brightened up the news interviews with managers and the such like.
love him or hate him Jose is a very special manager and brings a spark of fun to the otherwise dull football world outside of the game its self
not to take away his management skills either
wenger is an old master at the premiership and knows he will strengthen his squad again this year, this will of course be the bargain he always comes up with rolleyes
as for pelgrini i look forward to the Barcelona match as i feel this would have been a better final and fancy city to turn them over
And now, the end is near, and we must face the final curtain, and through it all, I can say, they did it Moyes way.
So short of 2 miracles no Manchester United in Europe next season, and even Arsenal could be relegated to the lower European League.
Got the top premiership places right, Liverpool did surprise me and though contenders my money is still on City for the top spot then Chelsea then Liverpool.
United managed to stop the rot too late, their away record saving them from further embarrassment with the best record this season, strange how they can do so well away from home and fail at Old Trafford.
Arsenal, well I said I thought Wenga had reached his peak a long time ago and some embarrassing defeats have shown that to be true.
I think it will go to the final game but look what City did to United in the final game 2 seasons ago, down and out with minutes to go and they fought like tigers to take the title in the last gasps of the game.
If I were a Chelsea fan I would not like the way my manager kept saying we had no chance of winning the taking the league title off City, modesty is one thing, but defeatism is never a good tactic.
All in all it has been a good season for the Premiership with no major screamers like the Suarez incident but again so many foreign players that the English team will continue to suffer from a lack of players gaining experience playing together or in top flight games.
and what's more important it looks like Wolves are on their way back....give it two seasons and we will be champions league....okay maybe just Europa cup...lol
When can we expect English football to be played by English players and managed by English Managers?
And will the game benefit from that?
At least one might be able to understand wtf they say (or will that be a bad thing?)

Never under current FA rules, clubs are going to buy the players they consider the best for their team within their budgets, they cannot afford to consider the bigger picture of the England team like we do. It is a great pity but business is business and these days football is business, very big business. Look at United, without the influence of Fergusson in finding his own replacement I am sure they would have gone for Mourihnio who had hinted an interest in taking the job, why not, I am sure he would have enjoyed showing he could do as good or better than Sir Alex.
The top 6 clubs in the Premier League should be supplying the bulk of the England squad but we are lucky if we see half a dozen players eligible to play for England getting on the pitch each week for those clubs. Oh for the days when clubs could only put a limited number of "foreign" players on the pitch at any one time, I would like to see a return to that rule with the improvement of classing Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish exempt the rule so that those home Nations could also benefit from Premier League football.

Despite being a nemesis for my own club (MUFC) I hope Wolves do get back into the Premiership, at least United are Wolves nemesis at the same time lol

You got Manchester City and Chelsea correct. Only an idiot would have predicted that those two teams would not finish in the top 4 and if you think that Mourinho's mutterings are defeatism, you really haven't a clue as to what you're talking about.

I am a born n bred United fan, Sir Alex, love him or hate him was a Master of gameplay, I understand that what he is doing is gamesmanship, but not everyone does I don't think that this is the best tactic from one so clever, true if you fail you can say "well I said it was going to be very difficult" succeed and you can claim how much your team have achieved against the odds, but it is not what many fans want to hear from their leader, the same goes for the players, no matter what he says in the dressing room to the contrary he is intentionally or not instilling a little doubt in the backs of minds.
You have to believe in yourselves 100% at all times and especially when up against the odds.

As I said, not a clue.
thing is....I really do think all this gamesmanship is old hat these days. Other teams and other managers are well aware of the situation and so it has no effect. It wasn't like old days when Fergie got Kevin Keegans back up with his comments. People just smile and laugh it off now.
Firstly may I say well done to Chelsea for their win last night against PSG...very exciting game.
However it does make me giggle a bit. Mourinho is hailed as a tactical genius. In the end he took off Oscar and Hazzard the two fancy footballing players, and put on a big centre forward in Ba and resorted to lumping the ball down the field, for him to hold up. Great exciting and attacking football and won him the game....many may call this old style English football. There again is this not exactly the style of football Mourinho called 19th century when West Ham did it to him ??
As I say, just made me giggle really....well done Mourinho on your 19th century style win !!!!

Jose Mourinho is just Tony Pulis in a nicer jacket.
Chelsea can be turgid to watch. Remember that they won the Champions League by 'parking the bus' in both the Semi-final and the final.
