well bankers dont make good bankers either, do they ? the credit that was given that has become our debt was created out of thin air at interest and can never be repaid so repudiate it. it was and is a fraud. politicians accept the fictitous credit/debt because they do so well out of it.when the hyenas of the city and wall street start shorting sterling like they are or have done greece, latvia, estonia, ukraine, portugal, spain, ireland, thailand, italy and any other soveriegn debt, they will bend us all over and roger us with a big financial stick. watch this space.

And who wrote the specs for what the Army needs? The Chiefs of Staff.
Who've spen tthe last 20 years since the end of the cold war still equipping our armed forces to fight a war against a Warsaw Pact that no longer exists? The Chiefs of Staff. In the real wars we've fought since 1989 Trident subs, aircraft carriers and Typhoons have been just so much bling, expensive toys for the boys who never grew up in Whitehall.
But when the shit hits the fan, and the poor bloody infantry start bearing the brunt of war what o the chiefs of staff do? Do they say 'honest guv, we didn't see that one coming?' Or do they bluster and blame the politicians.
Change the record Kenty - the politicians aren't there any more, the generals still are, and we're still wasting billions on extravagant, wasteful, fighting a war that will never happen kit. Orwell said something along the lines of 'we go into every war with equipment and plans designed to fight the last war.' It's time the military started doing some of the honest bit, and admitting they're pissing our money up the wall on the wrong kit in the wrong place for the wrong battles.

CHange the record FFS. The letter was a bad joke by a man not renowned for his sense of humour.
The letters that civil servants had signed are simple notes covering the civil servants arses, so that when the Tories got into power they wouldn't have to take the blame for anything Dave Nasty and the Provisional wing of the Eton Rifles didn't like the look of.
Listen very carefully, I will say this only once.
Dave Nasty and his gang want you to believe the crisis is worse than it is. They want to drive through larger cuts than necessary for the next two years, so they can buy your vote in the following three years with superficial tax cuts that might just get you back to where you were in the first place, if you're lucky and you've still got a job and a house. Big companies, in the meanwhile, big companies will have had their corporation tax rate reduced even further, and will be immune from the increases in VAT and indirect taxes that will fund the income tax cuts you'll be supposed to frig yourself into ecstasy over.
All of this will be cheered to the rafters b y the paper that said hooray for Hitler, Mr Top Shelf's Daily Express and of course every media outlet owned by Rupert 'only little people pay taxes' Murdoch.

the tories just wanted it in writing and the scrap of paper was all the country could afford after browns last shopping spree

Loads of IT projects cancelled (but still have payments to be made on them)
Loads more road improvements cancelled (but still have penalty payments to make...)
Front-line public services ringfenced, but loads of PFI hospital (etc) projects to be re-negotiated (penalties etc)
Loads of workers soon to be non-workers, but since benefits are going to be made conditional on community projects undertaken there will soon be a raft of people who CURRENTLY do the work unemployed...
Noted that this government is to make receipt of incapacity benefit conditional on a medical assessment.....incapacity benefit was renamed Employment Support Allowance several years ago, and hence no longer exists (as such) and the medical assessments have been going-on for 3 years now...those rated as disabled will not be assessed anyway...
IR35 to be reformed.....so loads of workers who currently cannot be self-employed will qualify for self-employment soon..
Etc..

Blair could have said no, he didn't, so I wouldn't have called it a parting shot by the Tories, it is not as though they 'lumbered' Labour with it.
