Name badges for this Munch will be based on the "Munch Bunch" badges many of you already have, but with a Scottish theme.
If you're a forum member and your name is on the guest list, you'll automatically get a free badge with your posting name and avatar on it so most of you don't need to reply to this.
If you don't have an avatar, you'll get a badge with your name and a tasteful generic avatar.
If it's your birthday and you tell me, you'll get a gold plated one with letters made out of real gemstones. (OK, that's not quite true, but you will get a gold coloured one with other stuff on it biggrin

)
If you or your partner are not forum members, or you don't want your posting name on your badge, send me a PM here or a memo in the chatroom (/ms send Ice_Pie ) telling me exactly what name(s) you want.
If you don't want your avatar on your badge, you can either send me a link to a pic you would like or have the generic one. Again, let me know by forum PM or IRC memo.

Has anybody had any luck with the overnight sleeper train ??
Just something I'm thinking about ??

I've discovered sometimes its easier to SHoogle than Google. I mean SH knows things even Google doesn't know.
Anyhoo - I know lots about the Sleeper and will whisper it in your ear.
Its run by first Scotrail - they do Bargain Berths which start from Â£29 each way including a bed but I don't think they are available at weekends.
The normal fair is just the usual Super Saver plus Â£33 each way for a bed.
The bar is open late and is a proper sit down buffet car.
Travelling on the sleeper is great fun - gets my imagination going anyway (thoughts of strangers knocking on your compartment door - and I can assure there are none stranger than those on the London to Glasgow)
Anyway it run by First Scot Rail - who are a shower of Barstewards but they did eventually send me a cheque for Â£210 after I'd written to them 12 time. (Because they told me the train had gone early - when it was still bloody there! How on earth can you not spot a bloody great train.)
You can't book online - you will have to speak to Duncan (he is the co owner of the braincell at The Train Line) and seems to be the only person who deals with reservations. My understanding of the reservations is that you have to book on a Dry Thursday afternoon (only in months with a Q in) between and You will have to give you mothers inside leg measurement before being allowed to collect your ticket.
Once you've got your ticket though its dead good. I use it all the time. And highly recommend it.

Assuming myself and the missus can get well known enough in the next month or so (not been all that active as of yet) and we secured an invite, what is the timetable of events? IE, is it purely a social munch, or are there other parties etc going on that only those in the know are invited to etc. Also, generally speaking, how long do these events last to? Is it an 5pm-5am sorta thing, or is it more regimented etc? My thanks. And with regards trains etc, take it from me, if you're within distance of Gatwick, Heathrow, or Stansted, it's usually cheaper, and a hell of a lot easier to just get a plane up.

Munches are only social gatherings and held in a vanilla environment.
what folks decide to do after a munch is up to them, this particular munch will start at pm till 1 am.. I'm afraid thats all the particulars that I will give at the moment.
around 10 days before the munch I will be sending out details of the whereabouts of the venue and all the details needed, and only to people that have confirmed as definite.
this information should not be discussed in open forum or chat rooms, neither should the naming of hotels or pubs where you or other SH'rs may be, this is for everyone's safety,wouldn't want a lot of undesirables turning up now would we lol

I knew the much itself was a purely social gathering, which is good, as I don't think me and the missus are quite ready for a full-on swinging party just yet.....
And as for keeping details quiet, that's very re-assuring to know. Worst thing I think I could possibly imagine would be for us to turn up to one of these events, only for it to get gate-crashed by a bunch of drunk ned single guys all wanting a 'piece of that action'. Things could get very nasty in that kinda situation, very fast.

We have someone willing to share a twin bedded room in one of the hotels.

Well ive booked the hotel, some time ago , as a surprise for Mrs goodtimez but now she knows!! Cant keep owt from her lol I can put a post on here wink

We both like our visits to Scotland and cant wait to return to "bonny Scotland" agin lol

We are staying Friday and Saturday night and plan to have a relaxing time :lol:

For some reason, some people truly excel in stupidity. Not your average run-of-the-mill 'd'oh' moment, but a truly stupendous act, that in any other field of endeavour would be akin to genius. Not that I'm anyone to talk, but at least I don't do things like pm-ming the person you're making a nuisance of yourself to, asking for a favour.
I haven't, and won't be asking for an invite, until such time as i think me and missus have made ourselves at least passably well known here. So we'll possibly miss this one, but hey, no biggy, there's always another one!

I am now in training!! lol

Had Haggis tatties and neeps (its one of my faves now! wink
