We are coming down for Friday afternoon and staying over sat. I like the idea of a communal bbq, but I need to think what to bring rolleyes

Hmmm, we were just thinking... If the weather is going to be wet it would be nice to have some places to shelter. We might go out and buy a cheap gazebo - the only problem is would that count as another pitch used and therefore we'd have to pay for it?

If all goes to plan with my health, I will be there on Friday, don't know what time yet, staying both nights :bounce:
I dont have any cooking facilities, so a communal meal would still get my vote, and according to the website, it looks like we can buy cooked breakie on the site.
I was wondering if it would be an idea to ask if the owner has an outbuilding, or barn or something that we could hire between us for a communal area in case it's raining?
Maybe for us to have the communal meal, whichever night that is, and the auction and drinks, and if anyone brings music we could have a boogie too. (and I could wear my fancy dress instead of having a saddo fancy dress party with meself in me tent :cry:

Morning all wave

Some really good ideas coming in both on the thread and via PM.
Having checked the local weather reports for the next few days its looking like a mixed bag, from thundery showers to sunshine. Daytime temperatures look ok around 19 / 20 ish, nights are a little cooler so remember to bring some warmer evening wear.
I’ll be doing a CTR at the site this afternoon to see if there are any outbuildings we might use, I am also on the scout for a gazebo or two, will see what I can find between now and Friday, if anyone feels like bringing one, please feel free, I think weather being what it is, the more the better.
Other things we still need:
Tables, we need some to put near the communal cooking area which we will set up for those who do not have their own cooking stuff, a table for food prep and another for utensils etc. I have 2 large tables here, but they are heavy and not the camping variety, so unless someone is bringing a trailer I’m afraid they wont be a lot of use to us.
Ropes, never underestimate the need for ropes, even if its just for tying stuff (like gazebos) down should it get windy.
Spare gas bottles, I have a twin gas cooker which I will be donating to the communal cook area as is someone else I think, might be handy just to have a spare camping gas bottle or two around.
Ground sheets, if you have a spare one in the shed / loft, bring it with you, we can always make a sheltered area from a few ground sheets.
That’s all that springs to mind at the moment, rule of thumb for this I think is if you think it might come in handy, bring it.
I’m doing a fair impression of the Blue Arsed Fly today, lots of family and domestic stuff I need to deal with before tomorrow but I will be popping on here at every opportunity. If anything urgent crops up, you should all have my contact details by now, feel free to use them.

I have a large blue tarpalin which I can bring its a bit dirty but we can sort that out.

I've got paper plates and napkins I'll bring along plus 4 spare melamine mugs for tea/coffee
Got some fab plastic wine glasses in Somerfield today ( 4 for £2 ) and 4 outdoor candles for £2 biggrin

Some things you might find useful to bring:
torch ( to find the loo, your tent on return and whoever you're bunking with wink

)
bin bag
loo roll
wet wipes
sun cream ( ever the optimist, me rolleyes

)
headache tabs for the morning after ( redface

)

From an old hand at camping....
also bring-
plastic cutlery
Water carrying "thing" either a folding type, you can pick them up more or less anywhere- Asda's etc. Or as it's only a short stay, large water bottles.
Spare socks. Always. You will get up first thing in the morning, step onto the dewy grass & go "eeeeugh", wet feet. In that respect, it's usually best to take some easily kicked off shoes to keep in the door to your tent for the late night loo run.
Citronella candles, keep the bugs away from your burgers & beer!
And last but not least..................................................................................................

OK the Field Kitchen is sorted, I have a large but delapidated frame tent, have just spoken to the site owners and they are happy for us to put that up as a communal cooking area at no extra charge, a couple of tables in there and a tarp on the floor and bob's your uncle :thumbup:

I have a largs approx 18 x 12 g/sheet now it is plastic and some sites dont allow this anymor bit ill put it in anyway.
If i have a chance i will get the trailer tent out and see what i can get out of that.
I have a single burner cooker with minus one support bar (god knows where the 4th went lol

) and a few spare bottles. The sit will most likely have gas bottles and im happy to syump up for one should we need to but i will see if i can reach one of my TT ones.
If i think of or find owt else ill bring it

BBQ tools ....can never have enough
a few tea towels & fairy...well someones got to do it
a tin kettle with whistle
single gas burner....got to have my morning cuppa
oh and we have a plastic sandpit if it`s any use but without the sand...could fill it with cold water for drinks to chill!
