If I ask to keep an eye on a thread, I get an email telling me when there is a new post. But I assumed the alert would stay on until I took it off. Do I have to reset it every time?

erm, erm, (playing for time here) I dont actually know. I know it used to stay on but if you didnt use the link in the email to view the topic, then it didnt send any more till you did view it, but under the new set up I have not got a flaming clue?????
Perhaps worth just clicking it each time you 'nip' into the thread redface

Thanks for your advice - I think both of you are right. I have now read my 'alert'' email more carefully and it does say I won't get any more emails until I have used the link to revisit the thread AND it suggests that I need to take a positive step to stop future emails by clicking the 'stop watching this thread button'. I'm still not sure this is how it works, so I shall conduct an experiment!
