Tut tut tut, what's this doing here, halfway down page two?
Come on, little thread, let's get you back to your home at the top of page 1...
Hi Guys, I'm new today and I'm trying to figure things out as I go along so if I sound a bit "know-it-all", I apologise in advance.
This webcam lark?
Isn't it a good idea for those people meeting somebody for the first time to get to know them a bit first?
OK, you can send a few e-mails back and forth and you can exchange pix but who is to say that the pix are of the actual person?
At least with a webcam you can see who you are talking to, especially if you can really talk as well rather than just type to each other.
After all said and done, anything that is an aid to personal safety is useful.
Just my opinion.
Steve

A threads breadth from slipping off the page again.
Good job someone's paying attention, eh...
Hi y'all.
Relative newcomer(s) here with a comment on the webcam debate. Given that it is currently 'ring-fenced' and reasonably well used then it seems as though it has settled at about the right level. If you're not interested then you don't have to access the posts do you.
It serves as a means of getting to know people without the risk of a potentially disastrous meet - you can use it to get to that stage (without the disastrous bit). My experience is that you can be selective over who you cam with and in any event you don't open the cam until you have a degree of comfort with the person(s) you are chatting to.
Has worked well so far since end of Nov and have not yet come across anyone I wouldn't be prepared to chat with again: no picture hunters, no sex maniacs (well excepting the reason for being on this site of course!), and ...no axe murderers yet.
Seems ideal dunnit.
We see the issue more like a swimming pool! In a really good swimming pool you have a shallow end for those who are just getting used to the water and the depth gradually increases until you just have to swim with the rest. Even then it's fun to just mess about at the shallow end occassionally.
We think that you are more likely to encourage more people into the deep end if they get their confidence up at the shallow end first. Of course if you only want to have experienced swimmers in your club then you might want a pool without a shallow end at all. We think that you will encourage more people into the deep end overall if you have a shallow end. Guess it depends what kind of club you want.
We are still relative novices but find that webcam fun is one way of getting more at ease with being naughtier and helped to tempt us to go further. We have given into temptation now (!) but the webcam fun helped along the way and we still enjoy it.
The sort of webcam sites out there tend to be overwhelmed by the single male voyeurs. Contacts through this site have been much more fun and helped us establish relationships with others and through mutual encouragement we have delved deeper. It just strikes us as odd that dogging (which is often only an observational activity through a glass windscreen) warrants a whole section but webcammers are largely disparaged.
