I'm sorry folks but this has to be said.
In my opinion
130 people at £5 a head =£650 is a bit expensive and I think the cost could come down cos most people wouldnt want anything to eat as its been proven before.
Could we have breakdown of the cost please, sorry to be a pain but the last social got pelters cos of questions not being asked before hand.
I for one, would rather people felt at ease rather than moaning to others about anything concerned with the social and cause it to be cancelled.
Hope you all understand

got to agree with woo here ...£650 is a hell of a lot of money for a social ...not taking into account the non-refundable monies ..if people cant go there'll be other £5's on top ......
we recently did a social in darlington last weekend and the price was £3 per head ...we had roughly 90 people turn up and made a healthy sum for charity ....after the room was payed for there was approx £300 for charity which included the money made when a hat was put round, which made about £80.

sorry have to agree n i did say to play a long time back £5 was steep my last party was £3 a head including food n we still had £250+ for charity n would have been more if i there wasnt so many raffle prizes (lesson learnt ) :-)
I think 5 quid for entry for night is more than accpetable. You can't get into some clubs for that price. The figure 650 is based on if 130 folk go I guess. I for one think the more monies for charity the better. Xmas do was a great success and am looking forward to this one :thrilled: so sending my 5 off first thing Monday :thumbup:

Warming the Bed
The price of per person is to ensure we cover our costs, as this is the first time we have held a social we want to ensure that everyone has a great night.
Everyone is working on the assumption that 130 people will attend the social, however, if we charge £3 or £4 per head and only 100 people attend then we will be out of pocket. There has been a lot of interest in the social but this does not guarantee that everyone who has shown an interest will attend.
As for the money that is left over it will be going to a registered charity National Association of Disabled Bikers (NADB) as you all know Mr Play is a keen biker, this charity is close to his heart.
We have read the rules regarding holding a social and they state (1) people can ask for a list of people attending and (2) to ensure that we don’t ask anyone who is band from the site, with this in mind there is no requirement to have a break down of our expenditure.
BUT;
All receipts will be made available on the night if anyone would like to see them.
As for the buffet surely it is up to the people organising the social if they want to have the buffet or not it is our choice that we provide a buffet on this occasion.
As for attending a function for £3 per person then having a raffle, this can take the price up to and over £5 per person as most people will spend about £2 or £3 on buying raffle tickets etc. At the end of the day we want everyone to have a great time and it’s up to the individuals if they wish to attend or not, if people feel £5 is too much to pay then that is their choice but please don’t discourage anyone else from attending.

Woo, I thought that your request was not only reasonable but a damn good idea. I saw it as a positive step to stamp out the usual moans and groans that are so often discussed behind the organisers backs. I don't know of anyone who has been discouraged from attending.
I am very happy to pay for the night out and think it is reasonable,please!! lets all get in there and support the people who are brave enough to organise a night so that we can all have a great time.

Can I ask a question altho after the last person got shot down in flames for asking one !! I am wary to do so.
If I send my £5 and the social is cancelled for whatever reason.. Do I get a refund? cos I was stung once before by a social last year, I know it's only £5 but it's the principle of the thing.
I know of lots of peoples who were promised a refund from that one and are still waiting.
Hopefully this one won't fall by the wayside and it will be the first of many in Fife organised by you.
