If you are doing the normal ferry crossing you only have about 5 hrs in Amsterdam. To get to the redlight area from where the coaches drop you off, go around the corner and there is a huge wide street, the red light area is to the left of this. Do not go too early as it is just full of drunks hanging around. Wait until later when there are more people about. If you want to visit the coffee shops there are loads and you are literally falling over them. If you are flying and spending a couple of nights there just ignore above. Hope you enjoy yourself
