We reviewed a club on here a few weeks back, that did not particularly run down the club or staff, although we did moan about the attendance (which on the 6 times we have visited the club, has never exceeded 12 people) and the fact that the club owner barged into a room that had just been used, while the people were still present and started making the bed, while people were still sitting on that bed! We were careful NOT to mention that the club owner had at the time of the incident had consumed a considerable amount of red wine (in excess of 2 full bottles that we actually saw!) or that he was quite agressive in clearing the room he decided he wanted to clean. The review stood for a period of two or three weeks, when it miraculously vanished! We can only assume that some sort of deal was struck between the club owner and the operators of this site. It just seems that when reviewing a club, the opinion of ANY individual is perfectly valid as the whole thing is subjective and the opinion is raised from the visitors point of view. It is irrelevant who agrees or otherwise, with such a review, if the intention is to present a fair and balanced platform. If reviews can be removed because someone (it really does not matter who) dislikes the review, only a biased picture can ever be painted.
I have to agree. I had always assumed that the Club reviews were unbiased and open for positive or negative comments. Surely the purpose is to enable members to make an informed choice. Personally I wouldn't reject a club on the basis of one bad review but if I detect a trend ...
From the clubs point of view, it does little good as it has simply encouraged us to post the same review on every site we can possibly find....over 100 as I sit typing this. It just surprises me that the site owners are prepared to censor remarks made in good faith. I mean, the incident happened, quite a few people witnessed what happened (the club was hired out to another organiser at the time) and several other people left in disgust. And as to our remarks about attendance, it was the club barman who confirmed that on a normal club night, their attendance was pitiful. You cannot get much more valid than that!
It is NOT the case that we only allow positive reviews on clubs. If we did that nobody would believe any of them and the whole idea of having reviews would fall flat. The only reviews not allowed are those by the club owners/staff as they would obviously be biased, or anything which is libellous and could lead to legal action being taken either against the site or you as an individual. I have no idea what happened to your review or for which club it was for. If you want to resubmit it directly to me or any other mod we can check to see if it was the content which caused it to be deleted and if not we can tell you to post it as normal. Having been threatened by the club owner, yes, I did take it a little personally. However, the review was VERY carefully worded to not be contentious. As the review was removed very suddenly, having stood for a couple of weeks, the obvious conclusion would be that it was removed at the club owners request. I will not stoop to naming the club in the forum, but I have submitted the review to you directly. Frankly, I still expect lots of reasons why my review is unsuitable.
No deal was struck between us and the club owners, we removed the review after the owner of the club contacted us, he did state that it was up to us if we left the review in place as he has no objection to people posting negative reviews if they are true, however he fealt that your review was personal and extreme, with incorrect information and gross exaggeration of events. I have discussed this with someone else who doesn't work for the club and was there that evening, based upon what I was told the review was removed and will not be going back up.
sorry to butt in but arnt all reviews personal and can be prone to exaggeration. it is up to the individual reading the review to take a number of different reviews and not take 1 review into account. myself i will go a couple of times normally before i decide to post a review or will read the last dozen or so reviews and make a decision from that, we all have an opinion about a club and how 1 person sees things is often interpreted differently
Well I'm not going to discuss this particular review, but we have many submitted that are clearly not in keeping with what we would consider to be either reasonable or accurate, as an extreme example we have seen a number that we can only assume are other club owners intent on damaging the reputation of a club or on some occasions people with a score to settle, so every one submitted is reviewed and not all are accepted.

The club in question has had some really poor reviews on other sites. Not the least of which, moan about staff being drunk and rude! However, as mine was the only poor review on here, and as it was deemed biased, presumably because it was the club owner that was rude, and I said so. That was more or less why it was removed. I am assured by the site administrator that no "deal" was struck.
People will probably know that we go out of our way to do (very detailed) fair and unbiased reviews of clubs on the web, which led to the clubbing guide book. To quote an excert from it, this is our criteria when reviewing a venue and it accurately summarises my thoughts on the previous exchange on this topic. 'You will find that some swinging web sites also have sections where you can find club lists and reviews of the venues submitted by members of that site. While most sites will have a fairly decent list of clubs very few of them are as comprehensive or as detailed as the one you will find in this book. Any review (Including dare we say it, the ones in this book) should be treated with caution, along with the reasons we have already stipulated above the Adult Club market is now fiercely competitive and reviews on the net can be highly influential on a potential customers choice of which venue to visit. As a consequence a critical review of a club on the net will often be followed by a tirade of posts from loyal customers defending it, this is equally reflected when a club gets an excellent review only to then be followed by another tarring its reputation. Again we stress these reviews would be based on the experience on that particular night; others of course, will feel differently. Despite having some personal preferences of our own, we have tried to review the clubs with as much impartiality as possible, stating quite clearly what the club has to offer its patrons and how much it will cost you to go there. To this end, we have asked several friends to also provide reviews on the clubs they have visited as well as comment further on some of our own reviews to give a differing opinion.'
Which is basically what we said.....each review is subjective. The thing is, the club in question gets quite badly slated on other sites, other reviews giving similar comments to ours. We have also had quite a few messages from this site, all from members who have worked out which club, and who have messaged us, agreeing with our comments. However, not one bad review appears on this site regarding the club, and ours was removed. It is the censorship we have complained about, not agreement with our comments (although there has been lots) and the fact that in this instance, no adverse comments will be tollerated on this club, despite evidence to support our remarks. We felt that this was unfair. We are prepared to accept the site admins remarks that no commercial reasons affect his decision to remove our review, but cannot understand why far more "spiteful" reviews exist on this site for other clubs. We do not, did not and will not expect everyone to agree with our remarks, but still reserve the right to make them, especially as the incident that we described was far worse than the "watered down" version that we published. I don't know the details of the incident but am quite shocked that abuse and threats were made. I really hope Mrs Dippergt750 feels better soon.
I don't know about the review this thread refers to, but I do think its ridiculous that you dont allow reviews of Adam and Eve's in Salford because the owners don't like them. There is NO POINT in having reviews at all if the owners of the establishment being reviewed can simply ask not to be reviewed. Maybe its because people were upset that said club offered people life memberships and then after two years (if that) announced that they were no longer to honour them. Since then they have upped membership (for single guys) from £40 to £50 a year, and now to an astonishing £50 for SIX months. This is probably illegal anyway under equality legislation, but who is likely to take a swingers club to Trading Standards!
After discussion with the site administrator, he has decided to restore my review, for which I am most greatful. It is a generous personality that is willing to see anothers point of view, even when that view may not fully jibe with their own beliefs! Bloody Marvellous!
