Has there ever been a Munch in Birmingham?
If so, how long ago was it, and is there a likelyhood of a repeat?
If not, why not?
Just wondering... confused

no offence.. but can i point something out to you...
one scheduled for nottingham in july... travelling distance 1 hr max
one scheduled for leicester in september ... travelling distance 1 hr max
then in the mean time you have 2 in the south east... and 2 in yorkshirre... travelling time 2 hrs max...
now i live in newcastle.. we don't have many events up here... i normally have to travel a minimum 2-3 hours to any of the munches.....
if you actually get your finger out why don't you put your name down for theses.. rather than complining about why there isn't one right on the doorstep....

I don't think he was actually complaining Sean confused
Partyman, I don't know when/if there's been a Birmingham munch, but it's a bit late now to wonder what it was like anyway; look forward to the ones that are planned, I say lol
there was one in the midlands, just as i joined SH. so i missed it.
i have always thought about organising a munch in birmingham,. but not yet found a decent venue. well fair enought ive not really looked that hard. but with all the muches around at the moment i thing there is enough events going on.

It is strange that somewhere as large as birmingham doesn't have a munch planned but it mostly depends on who is organising things and where they happen to be.
Also as long as there are plenty of things going on not many people are going to want to organise a big munch unless they are sure of a good turn out.

it was the "if not, why not?" statement that i actually objected to...
the reason why i asked is this.... you have been a forum member since the turn of the year.. 3 months now.. where you on before then? have you been or put your name down for any munches so far.....
it feltt like you were slighting perfectly good events that are close enough for you to go to because there hasn't been one on your doorstep....

Partyman they are all very good questions and I did reply with a date from the closest munch to you that had taken place. I remember because I arranged it rolleyes There is not going to be a repeat from me because I no long have the time or the engery that goes into it.
However Shireen is thinking about arranging one and has posted here
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopic/39508.html
with a few dates to consider. I hope that eventually the date and venue (when found) suits you but if not maybe you can get along to many of the others listed in the Diary

As you say, I've been here only 3 months now, not nearly long enough to have known what went on (or why) or what didn't go on (or why they didn't) in 2004 or before. That's why I asked.
I have also read the Munches rules, which list amonst them, that "too-new" members of SH forums won't be given an invitation, which, with me being here for only a short time, has meant that I have not applied to go to one yet.
I don't have a chip on my shoulder about driving to other cities for parties, clubs, dogging etc, if the time and other things in my life so allow. I am involved in the organising of private house parties in South Wales, Blackpool, Derby, Oxford and Portsmouth, ALL a decent drive away, which kinda proves my point.
The reason I asked was simply that in the West Midlands, there are masses of people, from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, and a miriad of other towns in the area, and unlike other regions of the country, not much in the way of Munches, or history of Munches, unlike say the East Midlands, or the NorthWest.
So why is this? Are there just not the SH membership from the West Midlands to generate an interest? Was it tried before and wasn't it a success, or what? I dunno, I'm just asking...
Oh and yes, I've seen Shireen's thread, and also noticed the lack of response from anyone else in the West Midlands, where Shireen is from. Which kind of brings me back to the point above.
I once heard that the stupidest question is the one that doesn't get asked. Sometimes I wonder...
I must admit, there seems to be a lot of members from the Midlands but I was surprised how little interest has been shown in Shireen's thread/poll. Particularly as it's central and possibly would be easy enough for a lot of people to travel to.
Was just wondering, is there an inverse relationship between the location of Swingers Clubs and the successful Munches?
Like for instance, the lack of a decent swingers club in the Scotland / Notts / Leics area and the fact that there are so many Munch threads for these areas?
With so many good quality swingers clubs in the West Mids, is it all too easy for members of SH just to go there rather than make the effort to try something new?
Folks of the NorthWest, you have clubs and Munches, what do you think?

Partyman your post confuses the crap out of me, sorry.
What have munches got to do with going to a club when they are completely different events?

Was just wondering, if you have nothing else in your neighbourhood, you are more likely to make something happen, but if meeting other swingers is handed to you on a plate (like at the clubs) does that reduce the incentive? Just a thought. Just trying to make sense of why there is so little interest in the West Mids to the possible Munch, thinking it may be because there are 3 top notch clubs which provide easy peasy alternatives that don't involve complexities such as forward-planning etc.

I'm not sure I would agree with this as a munch provides a very different experience to a club.
A munch is more about flirting with friends and having a laugh than about actual swinging.
Even if I had a good club 5 mins down the road I'd still want to go to munches.

I rarely go to clubs with the purpose to swing, sometimes I go to chill out with mates, have a laugh. I do swing, usually at homes or hotels and yet I am more than happy to go to munches to meet me mates and have a laugh. I would go to a munch more so than a club because meeting my mates is more important to me than a swing.
Partyman you don't seem to understand the concept of munches and you sure as hell have no idea how much effort it takes to arrange one. I did one and I know its bloody hard work which is why I am not stupid enough to do it again. However I am more than happy to travel to attend others.
Swinging is a completely different issue. Many people on here are online looking or interested in swinging but not actual swingers so they attend munches.
Whether people are interested in a midlands munch has more to do with peoples free time, jobs, the cost and family life. Nothing at all to do with swinging.
