during my perusal of the various threads ..there appears to be a complete absence of this particular activity/meeting..... is this because of the much vaunted scottish reserve........or shyness what happened to good old fashioned scottish hospitality?? I suspect that the swinging scene has`nt quite caught on the way it has with our southern neighbours. And that people are wary of arranging meets/munches for fear of the twitching curtain brigade. just a random thought!
The problem is there are munches but you got to look for them and keep your ears open in the scottish chat rooms. However, singles are often not invited or if invited there are limited spaces.

Actually, hate to contradict you but you are wrong. Munches are open to ALL regular members of the site, whether they are single, couples or whatever. You may be talking about socials where members can decide who they want to invite, but this is not the case for Munches. http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/terminology/munch.html Check out the above link which will give you more of an idea about what a munch is, and as for Scottish ones, there have been Munches in Scotland and I understand a few of people are still suffering from hangovers from the last one

That's me!! ops: Got the hangover at the pre-Munch get-together.
Our first post so hello to all. We're new to the scene and also the area so are quite interested in any future "munches" The hangovers are prove of a good night then - I take it! Mr Bloggs and I will be sure to keep our eyes open for any future get togethers.

I've never felt unwelcome as a single at any munch I've been to. In fact, I'd go as far to say; I've sometimes had more fun as a single than as part of a couple.
Its that little issue of there being 'munches' and Munches and 'socials' and Socialsagain not that I'm a stickler for the correct use of terminology of course, but Fifemale may be talking about chatroom socials, which are not Munches.

I'll put my hands up and admit that I am a stickler for the correct use of terminology From what I hear, some of the chatroom "get-togethers" shouldn't even be referred to as Socials
Quote by Darkfire the 'new breed' of 'socials' perhaps. But there's no wonder newbies get all confuddled with it all and are not sure of what is expected/ protocol
I don't think this is the thread to continue this. Maybe you'd like to write a thread about "The Terminology of Meetings"

Err...Nope!
what happened to good old fashioned scottish hospitality??
It's still very much alive, trust me

Ahhhhh, well that explains it then There have been several SH Munches in recent years. One in Edinburgh and two in Glasgow. They were extremely well organised (thanks Lucyweebaps and Ken xx) and attended. There haven't been any others organised so farbut you just never know. The recent upheavals of changing times will hopefully be reaching a settled state and we can get a Scottish Munch up and running again.

Those are socials, NOT Munch’s, at least not as we used to know them…

Don’t be hiding now Hello and Welcome to you the Laird
At the moment there's not many munches going on anywhere so it's nothing personal about Scotland or the Scottish. I went to the last Glasgow munch and had a great time. As has been said, because of the recent changes in the site a lot of the regular munch organisers are letting things settle before organising anything big - so watch this space. Just out of interest, I would be interested to know what Robhambledon & Fifemale & other chatroom users think a munch is because I have noticed a lot of threads recently in let's meet up that aren't clear as to what's being organised: Is it a munch? Is it a Social? Is it a private party?
