Really sorry to read that you've all been let down. Theres nothing worse than the excitement of meeting someone new being spoilt by them not showing up. Eastmids couple - even though you're so far away from me, it wouldn't prevent me from turning up. Personally, I don't have a problem with travelling any distance to meet someone. I enjoy the driving as much as the meeting. For me, it's a chance to get away from my usual routine and visit somewhere new, hopefully to meet some great people when I get there. I often drive from Newcastle to Plymouth and always return home refreshed and ready to take on the daily grind again, lol. I realise there are a great many timewasters out there (both single males / females and couples), don't give up though. There are one or two couples and singles that make it all worthwhile Good luck with future meets and heres hoping that everything you all arrange in 2008 is successful
Hi Rob Yup, they're buggers aren't they? Had a similar experience myself on Saturday - first bloke at least texted (albeit an hour late) to make up some excuse (how can you forget that you we're going out with your family?) and the second just didn't bother. Why would people do that? Unless of course they get so turned on by the thought of the meet that they 'peak' too early and sit back and have a fag and bathe in their afterglow. At least it got me to do the housework earlier in the day than I'd planned (every cloud..). Don't loose faith - pick yourself up and start again

i have had similar problems people just turn on by arranging meets i think !!!!!!!!! but not turning up i had more luck at clubs if anyone would like a meet please let me know i will not let them down
We have had the same experience of arranging meets with single males... Out of half a dozen one actually made it here and even then he was far from as experienced as his profile and patter in the chatrooms would lead you to beleive. We are suprised how many cars seem to breakdown at roughly the same time the meeting is arranged for! Hmmmmmm We also go to clubs and enjoy them a lot but have always also been on the lookout for regular people to meet socially and for fun at home or localy, we are starting to think that clubs are the way to go and to give up trying to meet the right genuine people online.... glad it's not just us that are suffering at the hands of these dreamers..
To be honest we find it is a lottery whether you are meeting single guys or couples. We have just got back from Cyprus. We had meets arranged with three couples and a single guy. A combination of single meets and two couples at the same time. None showed up. Usual excuses of too tired..too far...wrong home..one couple turned out to be a single guy..etc. etc. Ended up meeting nobody. Their loss However, in the past both in the UK and Cyprus we have met wonderful single guys and lovely couples...All luck of the draw. Keep trying. When it works, it is fantastic fun.
woo All this people not meeting each other and me not even getting a meet for ages I have always turned up and to be honest have never been let down I not even getting replies to messages that annoys me even a sorry not interested would do maybe a good meeter list should be posted or a rating system with member rating each other on weather they are reliable or not 1 making meet time and dates 2 realistic profile 3 genuine artical whatever it would help other when meeting people if they had already met and showed they were reliable it just like turning up to social meets, if you have let me down and not turned up to mine in the past i less likly to invite you the next time you ask. what do other think something has to be done and its our site so lets come up with something Rob

Just do a search using verification as the subject... That should let you know if its a good idea or not ;-)

If you want an ebay style rating, I am more than willing to do it for you. I give you 2 out of 10. Not a good score really and considering I have never met you or spoke to you before, I have no basis on which to do this, but it is my word against yours and who will know. You may be brilliant but if I am feeling very bad and decide to give you a poor rating, well, its just your word against mine. I am actually joking about the scores above, but not about the principles behind it. How would anyone know that the scores/ratings are genuine? How do we know you are not getting all your mates to bump up your score, or worse if you say you dont want to meet someone and they decide to make life difficult for you by making false reports against you. It would not work and the general conscencious on this site as always been it wont work and we dont want it!

GREAT! many of us face timewasters at some point and there's no denying it's HUUUUUGELY annoying but sometimes things do go according to plan and that's what keeps us here.

Assuming of course that the couples were in fact couples and not some saddo getting a kick out of pretending to be a couple. We reckon that there are a considerable percentage of false profiles on this site. Not huge, but enough to need to be just a litle cynical in your first responses.
To be honest we have not had a lot of time wasters we have a system that works for us dunno if it is this system that does it but here it is, first add them to messenger (don't know if we are allowed to say that lol) if they ask for a sexy pic within 4 sentences they are blocked deleted as simple as that, if they pass that test we will then chat for a few hours getting to know them usually its easy to suss time wasters out ie couples you chat to them if they say I instead of we or my wife has just gone to shops every time you chat to them. Its a pity we have to go to these lengths but thats the sad reality of the swing scene nowadays.

some peeps like to perv yr photos first to give idea of what u like. with robb u can see hes bum at least n we have met him,private n at social but with yrs can`t perv pics. so if u had no meets at all that might be yr problem. time wasters r all ways around, they get there kicks by walking the walk n talking the talk. we make friends at socials n some norm meets..... we found time wasters norm come thru on the mail,,, so we try and meet most in one go that stand out from the others... then come replies i don`t like to meet with others....n out of 12 invited to meet for a drink ... norm 1 might turn up.... but in chat rooms those that whisper we don`t meet cos if to shy to talk in main room, r to shy to meet at all...lol those that do talk in room n try n chat u up norm r known by others that will whisper to u that they ok or tell us he/she r time wasters .. so over the yrs wemay still be let down but not so much.....

Sorry if this offends you Smokey but we had a meet planned for tonight and have had to cancel due to family issues. Should we be named and shamed? Just because something has come up which means we cant go out, does that mean all our future meets should be cancelled? If for example, the person we was meeting gets a bit pee'd off at us for cancelling (even though we have a genuine reason) and decides to name and shame us, do you think we would ever get another meet? A name and shame thread or a verification thread is open to abuse. For example, say for some reason or other I take a dislike to a certain member. I decide Im going to make it hard for that person to get meets, perhaps they turned me down or something, so I decide to put a bad post about the person being a timewaster and not attending a meet they had arranged. That other person knows nothing about the so called meet, but who is telling the truth? me or them? How do we prove it? Its their word against mine. Name and shame and verification threads/posts are too open to abuse and is one of the reasons why they are not allowed on this site. Timewasters, sorry but it happens, both in real life and on here, but you just have to pick yourself up and move on, hopefully learning from the experience and being a bit more careful with any future meets you arrange.

I agree with there being no need for a name n shame / verification system due to the possible abuse. There are a lot of timewasters everywhere, not just in this lifestyle. We all leave ourselves open to them by the very nature of what we enjoy, photos on a profile don't help much due to peoples shyness or need for discretion - as far as showing their face is concerned. I have found that the best way to enjoy a successfull meeting is to be patient. As a single guy myself, when replying to ad's I always suggest a social meeting to begin with. It's better to at least meet and enjoy a chat / drink somewhere socially and find out that way whether you all get on with each other. Photos are just that, there's no way of knowing what anyone is like as a person from a photo. Who cares if you don't have any fun at the first meeting, surely it's better to just enjoy some time out together and see what happens. Be patient, it happens as it happens!
